Deus Ex: Human Revolution Delayed

Square Enix revised its financial outlook for the past year, downgrading its expected profits for the year by 92 percent, and that wasn't the only bad news. Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been delayed.

The game was expected to come out in March of 2011, but now it could hit store shelves as far away as spring 2012. Square Enix said the delay was being done to add further polish to the game.

In the meantime, check out this trailer for the game we got last week.

  • Whatever it takes. I don't want another "Alpha Protocol." Especially because Deus Ex is such a sacred entity.
  • Square what is happening? I love your games but you seem to be falling apart... :( Perhaps a FF7 remake on PS3 would boost your profits!
  • I never like to see a company lower their numbers by so much, especially such a great one as square. Hopefully things pick up for themm next year, because im still of the opinion that they are making fun and great games.
  • So, "polishing" takes another year.

Also, wasn't it March of 2011 that it was to be released, not this year?
  • Well all I'm saying is remake FFVII HD and everyone will be happy.
  • Less Final Fantasy, more TWEWY.

  • Huh, after that big ole trailer too...

  • This makes me a very sad panda.
  • Kind of a bummer, but my Q1 2011 gaming schedule was a bit crowded anyway.

  • ***... I was hoping for a 2 3 months delay... they are not seriously doing this.... the only plus side its took the load out of my march 2011 by 1 game..

  • The trailers are astonishing, but the gameplay clips were less than good.

  • And I had just pre-ordered mine! NOOOOOO!!!!

  • That good news for me,probably would'nt of bought it if it came out 1Q next year.
  • Probably a smart move. Square needs to re-innovate their games' quality to to be in good competition with the top-of-the-line developers out there. I mean, BioWare is releasing 3 games next year. Next year is probably going to be the toughest competition in the gaming industry ever.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

In the name of all things holy, WHY!

  • Ouchtown. 92 percent?? This does not bode well for the company.
  • Everything after Final Fantasy IX has been a let-down for me from Square-Enix. Back in the good ole' days when Squaresoft released nothing but gold.... Here they had my attention with Deus Ex, a title that has been superb in so many ways (JC Denton, forever immortalized in my mind) is now seeming more and more failed in its attempts. I pre-order, then get told it will be pushed back for polishing? Eidos didn't seem to have a hard time porting the first PC variant to PS2 (granted it was heavily cropped). I should take this game and tell them I will pay them a year later because my money needs to be cleaned. Squaresoft should drop Enix, since that seems to be the time of their oh-so-apparent downfall - or was it that movie? As a side note, I have decidedly not played a Final Fantasy after FFX (not counting remakes of their previous installments). I suppose I won't be able to play this game either, but that was not MY decision.
  • My guess is it only needed a delay of a few months. However, a few months would move it to an already overcrowded 2011 holiday season filled with Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham City, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and likely a new Call of Duty. That's some heavy, HEAVY competition that Deus Ex, as good as it looks, would be smart to avoid. Sucks for us but I'd rather Square/Enix delay it than sell me another game as boring or dated as Final Fantasy XIII was.
  • as long as they deliver

  • I am dissapoint
