Warner Shows Off Kratos, MK Bonus Editions

by Jeff Cork on Dec 13, 2010 at 04:21 AM

Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios have released some more Mortal Kombat goodies, including the first look at the PS3 version's bonus character, Kratos, and details about the game's preorder incentives and bonus editions.

It looks like MK fans are going to have some decisions to make before the game's April 2011 release. First up, there's the issue of platform. The PlayStation 3 version includes two exclusives--God of War's Kratos as a playable character and support for stereoscopic 3D. There's no word yet on whether the Xbox 360 version will include an exclusive character yet, which could keep at least some players from pulling the pin.

In addition, there are several versions of the game as well as retailer-specific preorder bonuses. There will be three versions of the game: standard, Kollector's Edition, and the Tournament Edition. Here's what each one includes.

  • The Standard Edition includes the game
  • The Kollector’s Edition includes the game, Sub-Zero and Scorpion figurines, a collectible art book, downloadable content that includes an exclusive Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skin and avatar costumes
  • The Tournament Edition includes the game, a portable fight stick, and downloadable content that includes an exclusive Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skin and avatar costumes. Warner says this edition is limited to 20,000 copies in North America

There are also three different preorder bonuses, which are given out by different retailers. Each of them offers an exclusive classic playable character skin and the character's original fatality. GameStop has Scorpion, Best Buy offers Sub-Zero, and Amazon is doling out Reptile.

Decisions, decisions.
