Is This The Ending To StarCraft II: Heart Of The Swarm?

by Phil Kollar on Dec 09, 2010 at 08:50 AM

I'm gonna go ahead and give this story a healthy SPOILER WARNING tag before you even click on it. How potentially SPOILER-filled is this video? So much so that I actually refuse to watch it.

So here's the deal: This week, some Internet sleuths discovered a video as part of a publicity reel for an artist claiming he'd worked on it as a pre-vis for Blizzard. A pre-vis (or previsualization) is basically a super early version of a cinematic, often using unfinished animation, voices, and even storyboards. Essentially, it's made for internal use only so employees know where the story is going and have a target to aim for.

Though it had been online for a few months already, once the video started getting distributed around gaming forums and blogs, it was quickly pulled due to a copyright claim, suggesting that it could very well be legitimate. I reached out to Blizzard for their take but received only the standard reply: "Blizzard Entertainment does not comment on rumors or speculation."

Want to watch the video and risk ruining the ending to the next chapter of the StarCraft campaign? You can check it out on Kotaku. Personally, I'll be staying far away from it.
