The Agency Delayed Until 2011

by Matt Helgeson on Dec 07, 2010 at 06:29 AM

Given that it's already December, we're not terribly surprised at the news that Sony's superspy MMO The Agency has been delayed until 2011. In a recent interview with Kotaku, Sony Online head John Smedley revealed that the game has been pushed until the latter half of 2011 in order to give the team more time to polish the game.

"There was a moment in time in our company where we looked at our own stuff with a clear eye and saw we have to do better," Smedley said of the delay. "DC Universe was held for a year-and-a-half from when we wanted to launch it and now I'm very happy with it."

Although the delay is bad news for fans, we're always in favor of companies taking the step necessary to make sure that good products come to market. The Agency has had its problems in the versions we've seen, but the unique gameplay and concept could definitely be a breath of fresh air in the MMO genre if done correctly. Let's hope this extra time results in a better game.
