Black Ops Patch Details Announced

Treyarch is staying good to its word that it would continue to make improvements and fixes to its blockbuster Call of Duty: Black Ops following release. Today, a member of the Black Ops team got on the game's official forums to detail what would be included in the next patch, which should drop in a couple of weeks.

Here are the details direct from Treyarch:

Issues Addressed:

• Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly.

• Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby.

• Addressed issue that prevented the “Load MP by Default” option from saving when other specific option combinations were set.

• Prevention of exploit that allowed players to keep custom classes and killstreaks after prestige.

• Addressed an issue where Flak Jacket Pro would not always protect against ground fires left by Napalm Strikes.

• Prevention of users losing their killstreak reward when switching classes at the start of a new round in round-based game modes.

• Addressed an issue where the incorrect perks would appear when spectating another player under certain circumstances.

• Added round start explosive delay to China Lake grenade launcher to give it the same round start limitations as other explosives.

• Contracts will now reset when the player Prestiges.

• Prevention of Valkyrie rocket exploding upon release under rare conditions.

• Prevention of Gunship failing to give player full control under rare conditions.

• Prevention of an issue where a player will get teleported outside the map boundaries under very specific circumstances.

• Additional security measures to enhance detection and banning capabilities.

Gameplay Tuning:

• Limit the ability to re-roll supply drops using Hardline Pro to Care Packages only, no other killstreak drops.

• Added a negative influencer to all spawn points to decrease the chances of spawning near an enemy. This will further improve spawning protection on top of previous updates.

• Additional sound mix tuning for Ninja Pro users – increased ranges and volume of enemy footsteps, and removed player footstep sounds on concrete material types.

• Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will now always be ensured one-shot kill headshots.

• Subtle increase in sniper rifle accuracy when scoping in.

• Added a render delay to the red diamond player indicators that appear when controlling the Gunship, Valkyrie Rocket and Chopper Gunner. When a player first spawns, this will not appear for a period of time.

• Additional minor reductions in knife lunge.

  • Well at least they are on top on all the problems.

  • the knife lunge and spawning nearing enemies NEEDS to be fixed
  • That's alot of problems they fixed, glad they fixed them all. Even though I don't play PC games, support on any front is always good.
  • Good deal, Treyarch is on top of things. This article hints at 360 version, but there is no mention of the PS3 version. Will that be handled in a separate patch?
  • I'm just happy they're giving players spawning back in time to get some cover when gunships are deployed. Watched a guy get 25 kills in one sequence with the attack copter because as soon as people spawned, they popped on display and he mowed them down before thye knew what the hell was going on.
  • That covers most of them..  Wow.  Good job Treyarch

  • I didn't know Black Ops had problems like these. I never really noticed them while I played. And I don't like how they might limit Hardline Pros' ability to only care packages...
  • I hope they know about the prestige hack. Most of my friends already hacked to 15th prestige. And it's really simple too.
  • all good accept making it to where you cant see people for few seconds while they spawn when in gunship. why so they can shoot my kill streak down faster
  • Awesome, glad to see them fixing stuff as soon possible, I had the glitch with valkyrie rockets exploding and the lose of control of a gunship both happen once and they were really annoying.

I am a little disappointed in hardline pro only being applicable to care packages though, it was fun to run a SAM turret, care package, and sentry gun and having the ability to change one of them if you didn't want it. Oh well, at least I can have my fun for a couple more weeks.

The rest of these I couldn't agree more with.
  • call of duty campaigns suck and if they are going to make online gameplay to where it cost im not buying call of duty anymore. Anyways i like MOH better anyway the campaign was just straight up amazing compared to cod.
  • Wow, now that is long list of problems. At least Treyarch is addressing them, instead of ignoring them.

  • a couple of weeks? Why not release weekly updates fixing a few of these things at a time?
  • this is good. definitely a much needed patch.
  • this is good. definitely a much needed patch.

  • Nice to see there on top of this.

  • Sweet. Soo happy they are fixing this ***. It has been a real problem. The care package *** was horrible

  • yeah fixes

  • They managed to add everything that bothered me into the patch!  That Valkyrie Rocket exploding upon launch thing actually happened to me, TWICE!  Treyarch is REALLY on the ball with this Call of Duty!

  • Spawning is a big concern in black ops. You spawn very near or in front of your enemies. In every match, many enemies spawn at my back and I have seen a team player and an enemy spawn at the same time in front of me. Is very awful and unbalance the game so much. I will not play until the spawning get fixed. Until then, I am very happy playing GT5 :).
