Replay – Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

It sounds absurd that a boxing game is considered one of the all-time greatest NES games considering its competition on the system, but Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! deserves its place in gaming history. While other boxing titles would allow you to mash buttons until your opponent fell to the canvas, Punch-Out required immaculate timing and memorization skills. In this manner, it was almost like a series of difficult boss fights that led up to the most difficult of all...Iron Mike.

Watch below as Andrew Reiner, Bryan Vore, Joe Juba, and myself take Little Mac up the ranks towards the Baddest Man on the Planet. How will we fare against the legend?

NOTE: Hearing some comments about the video freezing around the Don Flamenco fight. If this happens, try clearing your cache and reloading the page.

  • Holy crap best replay ever! I don't know if i've ever laughed so hard!
  • My dad is the only person I know (other than Reiner) that has beaten Mike Tyson. I got to him, but hes just so tough. Great replay though guys! This is the best one yet! You guys are hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing
  • GREAT replay. I love how you guys added that extra camera. I was wondering why Dan kept saying "Okay, I'm sitting on my hands now."
  • Ok, that was just about the best Replay ever. That is one intense game!

  • Best Replay ever. Watching Dan cringe everytime he dodged was priceless!

I never beat Tyson back in the day, but about three years ago, I decided to finally finish this game. I beat the shite out of that guy finally and it felt good. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be, maybe because I wasn't nine anymore. Also the video quits playing right after they ask about who beat Tyson, I would like to have finished it.

The video is working right now, thanks for the tip.
  • Favorite replay ever!!!

  • Great replay. I actually have beaten Mike Tyson too :) I decided to revisit the game when I was a teenager.

Check this guys instructional videos out. Sadly he has not finished the series. I never used these techniques because youtube didn't exist when I beat Mike Tyson, but it's still a really cool video.

  • Where's Rocky Balboa when you need him?

  • Yes! Finally video of the editors while recording a replay. Good job Ben for setting that up. Awesome choice for replay like always! Side Note: Ben can you make a post explaining what you guys use for the game capture, and how you are able to splice the two videos together? Maybe you can post your profile or something? It would be cool to make videos like this and post em on youtube.
  • Amazingly hilarious. $50 for whoever got Dan to cut his hair finally.
  • Mod

Dan, why the hair cut?  If you can grow hair you should, take it from a guy with a "shaved" head!

Anyway, this is a great replay.

  • Hahahaha! That was a great replay! Mike Tyson looked incredible hard. I definitly don't have those kind of reflexes to beat him. By the way, in some Replays can you set up that video camera just like this one so we can see the person who is playing, because i'm not that good at recognizing the gameinformer staff by their voices. I recommened the game M&M's Shell Shocked to see if its still fun to play. Thanks.
  • Best replay ever!

  • my face and ribs hurt so much right now. I haven't seen anyone react to games like dan. easily one of the funniest things i've ever seen
  • Funnest one yet!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice camerawork Ben!It was really fun getting to watch the faces Dan made when he tried to beat Tyson. P.S.Not sure if you've considered trying this yet,but maybe you could swap out the censor "bleep!" with random funny sounds, like chew toy squeaks or that "sproing!" sound the spring makes in the Mario games.
  • Great Replay! I was never able to beat Tyson either, but Dan's effort was one of the better fights I've seen against him. Loved the addition of the camera showing Dan spaz out. It took me back to when most people I knew reacted that way when playing the NES.
  • Game is still great after all these years. Thanks for replaying one of the best games of all time! As for replay roulette, god, how awful.

  • I don't think that I've laughed this hard since either the mario party 3 replay or the superman 64 replay :D
also, if you have another half hour to spare, here's a vid of the mike tyson fight where the guy only gets hit once. It's insanity!
