No 3D For LBP

Despite throwing its support behind 3D gaming in a big way this year, it looks like Sony’s littlest big franchise won’t be 3D compatible.

Responding to a question about 3D compatibility on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony Computer Entertainment America marketing lead Mark Valledor said “Sorry, no 3D this time around.”

Recently, Sony Europe studio director released details on Sony’s big 3D plans, noting that over 50 3D-enabled PS3 titles are in the works, including 20 internal projects. It’s a bit surprising that LittleBigPlanet wouldn’t be amongst the roster of 3D releases. We've contacted Sony to confirm the validity of the statement.

Sony’s current 3D arsenal includes games such as Killzone 3, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Gran Turismo 5, Tron Evolution, Crysis 2, and more.

  • Obviously the lack of 3D in LBP2 is not causing any broken hearts amongst the gaming elite. What I need to know, what every gameinformer.com member needs to know, is; Anyone out there buying their goods @ famalegoods.com?!?!?! I KNOW I'M NOT.
  • Thinking this a bit strange. I know I'm not a proponent of 3D, but I figure if your going to do it, wouldn't it be well suited to a game with eye popping backgrounds and all the parts that make up a level? Just saying, doesn't make much sense.
  • Good i dont even have a 3D tv anyway im sure it'll will still be better in regular 2D anyway

  • 3D or no 3D, LBP2 is mine.

  • they can just make an update for 3d

  • sony, you are a fail and so is 3D
  • I would love to see a user poll of 'How many people actually own a 3D tv and use it for gaming'
  • as said: imagine seeing a world explored on a 2d plane in 3d. It just doesn't or won't work. The best way to do it would be having thins from the background reach out at you and even then it would feel like you are just playing a game with an annoying 3D movie playing the background. Like playing mario but having the background replaced with Avatar.

  • Hey GI, do you want to do something about these spammers trying to sell us clothes and stuff?

  • does anyone actually enjoy playing games in 3d?
  • 3-D is great and all but I could really careless if a game is gonna use it or not. I for one am just gonna sit around and wait for the 3-D TV prices to drop just like HD's did( Remember when the cheapest was like a grand? Now you get em for under 400 bucks). Hopefully by that time the gaming industry will have played around with 3-D alil more and perfected it enough to peak my interest.

I will admit, Sackboy in 3-D would be pretty *** amazing though.
  • definitely does not bother me. 3d is still a gimmick to me...
  • Doesnt bother me, I dont have a 3d TV and dont plan on getting one so tell me Why should I care?!

  • Sony stop being gay and lower the prices of 3DTVs of you want us too play them in 3D or even buy them!

P.S. 3D technology has be around for almost a hundred years and you guys want us to pay a minimum of $2900-$3900 for a flat screen TV, its not that new, and its not worth that much money unless you lower the prices!

  • thats cool cuz I dont have a 3d enabled tv so its not bad news for us who dont got bukoo bucks 2 throw on a tv thats 3d!
  • a 2-d platform not platformer that needs to stay 2-d this game has alot that could go wrong with it and this pile of greatness could fall over if you put 3-d on it. Good move

  • Seriously can't wait to be able to afford a 3DTV to be able to play games in 3D!

I can see why they wouldn't do it for LBP though. Not really sure it would really add anything at all(probably not since it's just a sidescroller. Yet Nintendo is doing a 2D Mario game on their 3D handheld. hmmmmmm.....).
  • I Dont See The Point Of The 3D In Anyway... I Have A 3D T.v With My PS3 And I Rarely Use It At All.... U Do Not Need To See Everything In 3D... Itz Better With Just Moviez Being 3D....

  • Well more features are always good, but I don't really think 3d would change the game play as much as other games... So its probably not a big deal.
