Zynga Acquires Words With Friends Developer
FarmVille and Mafia Wars developer Zynga has been branching out into the mobile/tablet games market, and today it announced it has acquired Words With Friends developer Newtoy.
The Texas-based studio will now be called Zynga With Friends, and will be a key cog in Zynga's continuing push into the mobile market. Terms of the deal weren't announced, but Newtoy CEO and co-founder Paul Bettner will become vice president and GM of Zynga With Friends.
"We're reinventing the way people are social on their mobile devices," he said. "The Zynga With Friends Studio will build on the Newtoy legacy of creating approachable, highly social games that are accessible to anyone from anywhere."
