8-Bit DJ Hero Game Now Available

by Matt Helgeson on Nov 30, 2010 at 08:11 AM

In August, We previously reported on indie developer Eric Ruth's Pixel Force: DJ Hero, a brilliant re-imagining of Activision's hit music game as an NES era title, and now we're happy to let you know that the game is complete and ready for download.

Ruth is clearly a talented guy, as he's already won acclaim for his old-school interpretation of Left 4 Dead. Pixel Force: DJ Hero is impressive for its simplified, era appropriate translation of the complex control scheme, but even more so for the soundtrack. Ruth used home recording software to create his own virtual chiptune "mash-ups" of popular '80s tunes. Check out this video to see what he did with Huey Lewis's "I Want A New Drug" and Ray Parker, Jr.'s iconic "Ghostbusters".

Pixel Force: DJ Hero is available for download on Ruth's website.
