Microsoft’s Kinect Sales Shoot Past 2.5 Million

by Ben Reeves on Nov 29, 2010 at 11:40 AM

The week of Kinect’s launch Microsoft was already talking about strong sales, but Black Friday seems to have boosted the system’s sales even further. Microsoft has announced that Kinect has sold over 2.5 million units.

“We are thrilled about the consumer response to Kinect, and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday.”

2.5 million units in less than a month is a pretty impressive feat. We just hope that Microsoft keeps rolling out quality software like Dance Central and Kinectimals so that those 2.5+ million new Kinect owners don’t run out of things to do after the holidays.
