At Least Five New Kinectimals Plush Toys Coming Next Year
Kinectimals is not just a surprisingly solid game; it's also ONE OF THE MOST ADORABLE THINGS EVER. You'll be able to expand on that cuteness next year, as Jakks Pacific and Microsoft will be releasing a series of new Kinectimals plush toys that can be scanned and used in the game as well.
This newly-announced deal continues from the collector's editions of Kinectimals, which came packaged with either a King Cheetah or Maltese Tiger plush toy depending on which retailer you purchased it from. The new Kinectimals plush toys, which will begin releasing in spring of 2011, will also be able to be scanned into the game. Kinect studio manager Jorg Neumann commented on the deal:
"Our goal with Kinectimals was to create a game where players could form a strong emotional bond with animals, so we thought it would be a great extension to have a physical version of our adorable cubs that people could take home, play with and collect. JAKKS was the perfect partner to create the type of plush toys we felt contained the same high quality and emotional value we focused on in the game. We couldn’t be happier with the end product."
Five plush toys are coming "in the first wave," which suggests that more could show up in the future. Microsoft and Jakks have yet to announce pricing or animal type for the toys. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something totally crazy, like a baby crocodile.
