Is This A Prototype 2 Teaser Site?

The website Murder Your Maker is teasing an upcoming Spike TV Video Game Awards reveal. The popular theory on game blogs and forums is that it is a teaser image for Activision's Prototype 2. The website's only image (pictured above) features a bald person, a wall covered in maps and newspaper clippings, and a heavy emphasis on the colors black, red and white.

My first guess as to what game this is teasing is Hitman, but our web savvy reader HK-47 says that the site is owned by Activision. So, I guess that means it's Prototype 2...or perhaps a bold new direction for the Tony Hawk franchise? We'll find out on December 11.

  • thats what it looks like to me
  • Maybe a new IP? I never played prototype so I'm not able to see any similarities there, but maybe that's it. My first thought was Max Payne for some reason.
  • In the background it looks like a map with places dotted out on it. Might just be me.

  • This looks like some kind of new vampire game or something, I don't get the prototype vibe at all from the picture. Besides the main character of prototype wore a leather jacket, not a trenchcoat thing
  • Has to be Prototype 2. I mean, the main character was maid using a virus, and he is always looking for the web of intrigue, so i think it has to be Prototype 2. Plus, like you said, the main color scheme of that game was red and black, so i'm now excited.

  • I preordered the first Prototype (special edition, no less) and while I had a good enough time with it, I don't find that it was worth it. Don't get me wrong, Prototype succeded in making you feel like a total bada**, but the combat had little depth, the story was pretty messy, and it was pretty easy to get stuck on particularly hard segments. But what I think really killed it was the hypocritical nature of the game. The whole story revolves around Alex Mercer trying to remember who he is and stop the government from destroying New York, and yet as soon as you're released into the game world, you can pretty much slaughter the whole of the population without consequence. I don't know about everyone else, but that really sucked me out of the experience. Bottom line, if this is indeed Prototype 2, I enjoyed my time with the first, but they're gonna need to really to step it up in the future if people are going to care.
  • That would be so cool but I hope that the upcoming Spike TV Video Game Awards reveal will be Uncharted 3 or Mass effect 3.

  • I'm feelin' the Prototype vibe.

Black, red, and white emphasis. (The colors on Alex Mercer)

Murder Your Maker, sounds VERY Prototype-ish

Map with Targets, Web of Intrigue, spread of virus? (Noticing that it looks like a world map too)

I enjoyed Prototype, as much as reasonably possible, and I'm honestly looking forward to a possible sequel that ties up the story, and fixes combat and such.

  • If this was a Hitman (which makes sense) I would be sooooo happy.
  • Well, looks like another war between them. Infamous 2 VS Prototype 2. Of course, Infamous is going to win again. But anyway, I really hope this isn't the announcement. I'd rather have Uncharted 3/Jak 4/Sly 4
  • "A bold new direction for the Tony Hawk franchise" HAHAHAHAA!!

  • Wasn't Prototype such a let down to you guys? I know for me I was looking forward to Prototype and dismissed Infamous as looking like a boring open world game. It turned out I had it wrong. Infamous turned out to be awesome and Prototype was just boring. They tried to do the "everything and the kitchen sink" technique but it backfired on them. It was a jumbled mess. However, given time to fix all of the problems, it could easily be one of the best open world action games of this generation. All they have to do is make it more focused. Don't just throw a ton of moves into the game because you can. Work on the graphics engine, especially since the last one looked like a PS2 game. Improve the story and the pacing. Add more varied missions and drop those stupid challenges.
  • I'm guessing prototype 2 because of the background. the background reminds me of prototype and the game DID have a lot to dp with murder...
  • Not Tony Hawk. They already announced Tony Hawk: Shred...which unfortunately has the same controls as Tony Hawk: Ride :(
Oh yes, if this is Prototype 2, I'm just going to wait for Infamous 2, a way better superhero-sandbox game.
  • The first game fell short of the hype, so if this is indeed Prototype 2, they need to make it worth while.

  • First thing I seen was Valves logo, the bald guy with the valve on the back of his head, but if its owned by Activision who knows. OMG!! Please Valve dont partner with Activision!!!!
  • If it's Prototype 2, hopefully they make some drastic improvements.

  • I hope it's prototype 2. I know there were a lot of criticisms, and rightfully so, because there were tons of things wrong with that game. However, you can't deny the fact that you felt like a complete badass running rampant, killing everything with the press of a button. If they make the right improvements, prototype 2 could be an amazing game.

  • Obviously it's the new Guitar Hero.
  • Oh, it's definitely a new Tony Hawk game.

All kidding aside, this does look like Prototype. And (***SPOILER ALERT***) doesn't he say something during post-credit playthrough? I forgot..as I only saw a video of it (Too busy playing inFamous :P).If it DOES turn out to be a Prototype sequel, I hope its better than what I've been hearing, because frankly, I don't trust my friends who go "Oh it's awesome cuz I can chuck cars around! And Infamous sucks cuz......you can't.....:P"

EDIT: Oh yeah, it definitely has a Prototype feel to it. Anyone else hear the "music" or sounds?
