Super Mario World Hits 1 Million Hours Played In Japan

by Bryan Vore on Nov 22, 2010 at 06:37 AM

Super Mario World just turned 20 years old in Japan, but it's only been out for four years on the Wii's Virtual Console. In that comparatively brief time, Japanese gamers have put in 1,066,109 hours of play time.

Inside Games, a Japanese gaming blog, checked into the stats and found that crazy number in addition to the fact that Japanese gamers played Super Mario World 1,360,629 times. That adds up to over a century of playtime.

The blog also checks SMW against The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which released on VC the same day. Players "only" invested 385,811 hours into Link's SNES adventure.
