Treyarch Announces Patch To Fix Black Ops For Wii

A lot of gamers have been experience connection problems with the Wii version of Activision's mega-blockbuster Call of Duty: Black Ops. Thankfully, Treyarch is on the case, and is working on an update that will correct the problem.

That's pretty cool, especially since we didn't even know you could patch Wii games! In a post on the Black Ops official forums, Olin said, "Thank you for helping us to identify the various connectivity issues you have been experiencing. We have fixed many of the problems you have reported and are currently testing those fixes in anticipation of releasing an update. Stay tuned for the delivery of this update within the next week or so."

It's certainly good to see a developer owning up to its mistakes and doing something to fixing the problem, especially on the Wii, where these type of patches are rare-to-nonexistent.

  • WTF, who gives a *** about the Wii version, focus on fixing the graphics on PS3 and all the online s*** that keeps pissing people off!
  • Yeah, the Wii version seems like it should be a priority. Go ahead and patch in WiiFit and WiiSpeak support with it as well, there's a massive Wii Call of Duty audience that demands it.
  • Wait, so it is possible to patch Wii games? Has it been possible this whole time? You'd think they would have patched that game ending issue in Metroid Other M then.
  • YAY i'm so glad that Activision/Treyarch are making a effert to make the Wii version just as great as the other versions and i so can't wait to get Black Ops for the Wii :)
  • It never belonged on the Wii in the first place.

A half-assed attempt to increase sales most likely targeting oblivious parents like Tony Hawk Shred. I wouldn't be surprised if they rubbed off on Blizzard who will release some scrubby port of Diablo 3. What a terrible publisher.
  • How exactly are they going to patch it anyway? (If this is obvious please forgive me. I don't use my Wii to play oline multiplayer)
  • It's good to hear that Treyarch is committed to support, but just looking at that screenshot scares me away from the Wii version. Rumor has it that Nintendo has something huge in the works concerning hardware development. Let's hope it's their entry into the hi-def realm, I would hate to see Nintendo fall out of the console race like Sega.
  • The patch removes the game from the system.....LOL

Thank you I will be here all year.

  • Good lord how many great games is the wii going to drag through the mud. Let the soccer moms and senior citizens go play mario party and super polly pocket, and leave the real games for those of us who have devoted huge sums of time and money to this indusrty.
  • Nintendo, honestly, needs to create a new face

And this says a lot from a guy who loves nintendo games

  • go buy kinect or move.
  • I didn't know it was possible to patch Wii games without mailing an SD card.

  • I guess this is nice, but I guess they thought the Wii problems were far greater than the other two, since they haven't done anything about those problems yet. I assume we'll see fixes in due time.

  • SHut up Sebastion many people have a wii to you know but I dnt like the wii versions for COD

  • I do not think a patch is going to fix that atrocity

  • oh shut up sebastian ojed who gives a crap of what you say about the wii version of bo.It got solid reviews like the other versions from other game sites so back off you douchbag. The wii bo is fun and awsome and i see no problems with it except server issues thats about it and wii has dowloadcontent has well.

  • WOW THEY FIX THE A GREAT GAME ON A SYSTEM HARDLY ANYONE PLAYS ON?!?! FIX THE CONNECTION ON XBOX TREYARCH!!!
  • Great.

I want my chievos though.(Frag Master Glitched(for me, anyways))
  • Wii deserves all this pampering. It's a good thing Wii got Call of Duty: Black Ops.

  • Yay!

I wonder if this will include any responses to the graphical lag and respawn lag.
