The lights are on
Microsoft's new Kinect device has already made a splash, selling one million units in less than two weeks, but many hardcore gamers remain unimpressed. According to a new rumor, Epic Games and their popular 360-exclusive Gears of War franchise could be a key part of Microsoft's strategy to win over that new crowd.
IGN is reporting from a "reliable source" that Microsoft will be introducing a number of new Kinect games at the Spike Video Game Awards in December, including a Gears of War title that will use the motion-sensing device. The source is unclear about whether this is an all-new Gears of War game, an older title in the series remade for Kinect, or possibly even just new Kinect features being grafted onto the upcoming Gears of War 3.
Update: A couple of tweets from Cliff Bleszinski clears up at least one detail about this rumor. According to the Epic designer, Gears of War 3's recent delay was not because of Kinect and the upcoming game will not utilize the new technology. So if this rumored Kinect GoW game is real, it's not Gears 3.
The Spike Video Game Awards are going down on December 11, so stay tuned for clarification one way or another then. In the mean time, would a new Gears of War game make you more interested in checking out Kinect?

I'm not interested in flailing around like an idiot, no matter what game is involved.
I didn't buy a Kinect because what they've used Kinect for so far sucks other than Dance Central, but I don't want it for that. So I need more reason to buy it. Making some hardcore games will definitely get me to buy it, but you guys must understand the idea of "hybrid" gaming that many of us mentioned already by using both controller and casual motions combined. It's a really great idea that could work and am confident would be successful.
Won't work on me; I don't like Gears too much either (the story is okay, the online I find highly underwhelming).

So I clicked on that link and then went to Cliff Bleszinski's twitter page and apparently 30 seconds ago he made a definitive tweet saying "No Kinect in Gears of War 3"
that would be cool...if it worked well.

I really hope not, about this news story xD. Unless its REALLY awesome. Not just kind of awesome. That wont be worth the buy.
