The lights are on
We brought you the first details on Rockstar Games' L.A. Noire back in March, but now you can see the game in action for the first time. The debut trailer was created exclusively with in-game assets, and it shows some of the incredible tech that developer Team Bondi is bringing to the game.
The trailer shows Cole Phelps (played by Mad Men's Aaron Staton) working a few homicide cases, including a mysterious hit and run. While the crime scenes are suitably gruesome, the real star of the clip is the game's facial-capture technology. Using a process developed by Team Bondi's sister company, Depth Analysis, performances are captured in unprecedented detail. Take a look at the trailer if you're not convinced.
L.A. Noire is somewhat akin to Rockstar's previous sandbox works, but operates on a much more case and investigation driven basis, giving in a very unique feel in the company's catalog. Phelps will be able to interrogate suspects and search for clues in a painstaking recreation of 1940's-era Los Angeles. As the trailer shows, he'll have plenty of opportunities to interact with seedy characters, too.

Step Two: Laugh at Mass Effect 2
Awesome voice acting.
Where's my GTA 5?
This looks amazing!
Whoa, L.A. Noire is smooth! Some of the best animation and voice acting I've ever seen in a game.
that was a sweet trailer simply because it shows off how well the new facial tech works that they are using that is the best acting and emotion ive ever seen in a rockstar game very nice the faces are up there with heavy rain although heavy rain still looks a bit better graphically but still la noire is looking *** good
The facial expressions are extremely impressive!
very impressive facial animations!
looks like CSI except better, Pre-ordering later this month
I'm not a huge sandbox guy, so L.A. Noire's emphasis on the investigative procedure has me very excited. Not to mention my love of film noir in general.
I haven't been this excited for a specific game in a long time.
Rockstar, will you ever cease to amaze us?
Looks awesome, and the voice acting is already top-notch. Can't wait for this game!
It's funny how I love everything Rockstar does that is not GTA or Manhunt! Can't wait for this game!
