Miyamoto Seems To Confirm The Existence of Wii Music 2

Some games get sequels because they sold a lot of copies. Some games get sequels because they got great reviews and word of mouth. Now, it appears some games get sequels when none of those things happen. Specifically we're talking about Wii Music 2. In an interview with Techland, Nintendo svengali Shigeru Miyamoto seems to pretty much confirm that the company is working on a sequel to the poorly received music game. While this isn't the first time he's hinted that another Wii Music might be in the offing, these quotes appear to be pretty definite.

And there's a lot of potential still in Wii Music, I think. Because we're going to change it up, a new interface is coming, and all of that," said Miyamoto. He also speculated on a possible inclusion of Mario in the Wii Music sequel. Though he seems less than enthusiastic about making Wii Music a Mario game, he did leave the door open to the possibility. "That's not to say if there's another Wii Music, Mario wouldn't make an appearance," commented Miyamoto. "If we get more people to understand what's going on in the game concept, then he might appear in the game. I don't know. But, mostly, Mario is really action-oriented...In most of his games, it's about the player's actions on the screen or the player being able to experience the actions of Mario. He doesn't seem to fit that role of a musician for us right now."

Well, slap me twice and call me Sally. It looks like we are going to have more musical chaos for the Wii.
