Black Friday Site Predicts Kinect Will Be Big This Season

by Jeff Cork on Nov 10, 2010 at 03:25 AM

Microsoft definitely has high hopes for Kinect this season, with the company projecting sales of five million units by Christmas. It’s looking as though the device is shaping up to be a must-have item for holiday shoppers, too.

According to a user poll from Black Friday.com conducted last month, Kinect is the second most-wanted item on its user lists this season, with Apple’s iPad taking the top slot. The Xbox 360 console is in the number 15 position, with TVs, cameras, and other electronic devices filling in the middle numbers. Microsoft's two devices were the only video gaming entries on the list. Sony's Move and PS3 – or any Nintendo products, for that matter – were nowhere to be found.

It’s clearly not a statistically sound poll, but it’s definitely interesting to see what the hardest of the hardcore Black Friday shoppers are looking forward to buying in the coming weeks. It would be interesting to see why they’re sold on Kinect. Were they swayed by Oprah, Ellen, or other advertisements?
