Infinite Care Package Glitch Mars Black Ops Online

by Adam Biessener on Nov 09, 2010 at 11:19 AM

It's just not a Call of Duty launch unless someone is glitching within hours. It would appear that you can once again obtain infinite care packages from an easily reproducible series of actions.

We're going to need an emergency deployment of snark to keep up with the goings-on if this continues. First the PC version being unplayable for a non-trivial fraction of the playerbase, now another killstreak glitch. What's next?

UPDATE: Activision killed the YouTube video showing the care package glitch. No free chopper gunning for you!

In Treyarch's defense, community lead Dan Amrich has put out an open call to gamers to send in proof of glitches and bugs to help the developers fix them, saying, "Every game has bugs; it's a reality of gaming. And the bigger the game, the more likely you will find bugs that would never even come to light in less popular titles. So the best way to help get rid of those bugs is to share what you've learned with the team that has the power and insight to fix them."

The good news is that now that this bug is out there, nobody will be using it online because that would be unfair and lame. Right?

Right?

Well, at the very least, the community has had some fun with it. It's heartening to see a gamer having some fun with the game they just bought rather than taking to the Web with shrill cries for the developers to be publicly beheaded as a warning to anyone who would mess with their kill:death ratio.
