Hey, Remember Sony’s Move? It’s Still Selling

With all the hullabaloo surrounding Microsoft’s Kinect this last week it would be easy to forget that Sony launch it’s own motion sensing peripheral more than a month ago. Sony hasn’t forgotten; in fact, the company seems pretty happy with how its new controller set-up is selling.

Did you know that Sony shipped more than 1 million Move units to North and Latin America in its first month? Or that more than 60 percent of people interested in buying the Move already own a motion sensing system with the Nintendo Wii? Sony cooked up an infographic including many of these facts to help spread the good news regarding the PlayStation Move. Check it out below.

Do you have one yet? What do you think? If you don’t, what’s stopping you from buying one?

  • kinect will outsell it.  im not a fanboy.  it just will.  wii hd isn't that cool.

  • Makes sense. My regional director just picked up Move for her daughter and husband, they just became a PSWii household.

    EDIT:
Hey Ben, have you had a chance to play The Fight Lights Out? I am excited for this one, but after reading the early reviews I cant tell if the game is just bad or if it is more of a simulator of sorts? I got the impression that the early reviewers where just getting beat up. Thanks.
  • I have it and think its pretty cool. However, the launch line up is pretty weak. I wish they had launched at least one solid Sony exclusive. The best game for it, in my opinion, is Tumble.

  • I tried the move at best buy and couldn't figure it out.

  • You know some of these facts here aren't too convincing. Particulary the how diverse is PSMove audience. Also units shipped has nothing to with sales. I've heard the numbers for Move are quite low.

  • It won't help Sony sell systems, but if you have a PS3, helps you turn it into a high def Wii, which isn't bad but it's not going to sell systems.

  • My $.02 on Kinect v. Move?  I have both - both are fun and work great.  In the end, software will determine the "winner" (but honestly, if both companies are making money, they both win).

  • I got to try a little Move the other day at Gamestop, and it honestly just felt like Wii Motion + with better graphics. Sure, it was a bit more accurate, but it still just felt like Wii. I say Kinect will easily beat Move.

  • I love my PS3, but I am not buying Move for it. If I wanted to move around for entertainment, I would do something that required moving. I play video games because I don't want to move around during that time.

  • Once I get my PS3 if the move games are good enough then I'll probably sink some dollars into it.

  • Who cares kinect is better

  • Kinect > Move > Wii

  • I work at a Game Stop and the Move does seem to be fairing pretty well. There's a lot more Xbox owners though, and a lot more hype about the Kinect, so no doubt it will sell better, but I wouldn't call the Move a failure.

I've been satisfied with the Move since I got it, the problem it has right now is not a lot of good games that support it. Once KZ2, IF2, LBP2, SC4 all come out (not to mention Sorcery) I'm sure more people will be interested in it.

Right now though the Kinect is probably on the top, and it is cool, Dance Central is definatly the best game fore it right now. I tried talking a customer into Dance Central the other day though and he gave me the whole "that looks gay" line, then asked for Adrenaline Misfits. Really? C'mon!
  • I can't wait to get mine!

  • I'll buy it if it lets me contextually strangle space fascists when Killzone 3 comes out.

That would be a big selling point, I think.
  • 30% ARE FEMALE?!? WHOAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know I plan on buying myself one once I have enough for it.

  • I got the Move when it first came out and I'll be honest, I haven't played it for almost a month. But thats not to say I won't. I'm still looking forward to The Fight:Lights Out and Sorcery. Also replaying Heavy Rain with the Move controller should be fun.

  • In my opinion what gives Move the edge is the fact that they can pit out software updates for existing games to use the motion controls. I'm looking forward to playing Heavy Rain and LittleBigPlanet again.

  • I'm buying MOVE on christmas
