The lights are on
THQ creative executive Danny Bilson revealed during his IGDA keynote speech that the company's collaborative venture with acclaimed film director Guillermo del Toro is set to be announced publicly at the Spike TV Video Game Awards next month.
[Del Toro] is partnered very closely with myself and my writing partner, Paul," noted Bilson in his speech. He also said that THQ "will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month."
Until that time, unfortunately, there isn't much to report. Speaking with MTV last month, del Toro said, "It's horror...but it's a very different type of horror game. It's not survival horror. It's truly a strange, geeky mix. It's a Lovecraftian thing. Let's leave it at that."
The Pan's Labyrinth guy working on a "Lovecraftian thing" with a publisher that has reaffirmed its commitment to creative, big-budget core games? We're not seeing the downside, here.
I am very excited for this announcement, as I love all Del Toro's movies, especially Pan's Labyrinth
Sweet! The VGAs suck, though.
Sounding good. I love watching the VGAs and this just gives me one more reason to watch.
When does the voting begin for Video Game Awards? And what's the date?
Bioshock Bioshock Bioshock! OH GOD PLEASE!!!
I'm extremely excited for this. I think Del Toro has found a certain passion for games. I saw a video of him at a conference with the cast of scott pilgrim talking about the movie and game and he gave me the impression that he plans on being a bigger part of the gaming world, I would welcome this with open arms personally.
As a movie and video game freak I'm sure I'll be in heaven.
I love Del Toro. I hope they just let his imagination run wild. This could potentially be mind blowing.
Pan's labyrinth was in a way a horror, so I kinda already get the feel of this game. It sounds very interesting...
It will be EPIC.
