The lights are on
Yesterday there was news that Gran Turismo 5 went gold, and Gran Turismo grand pooba Kazunori Yamauchi says he and the team are already looking forward to the next game.
Talking to AutoWeek, at the SEMA auto show in Vegas, Yamauchi confirmed that work had begun on the next Gran Turismo, but he was reticent to elaborate much on it. "It's not something that we can talk that lightly on. It took 2,000 days to get all the ideas that went into GT 5. It's just too early to be talking about GT 6."
Ironically, almost a year ago to the day – on November 3, 2009 – Yamauchi was more confident about GT 6 when talking to AutoWeek at SEMA 2009: "You won't have to wait as long as you did for GT 5," he bragged at the time. "GT 5 was basically the creation of a whole new operating system, and developing GT 6 will be like adding new applications that run on that new operating system."
If Gran Turismo 6 does indeed piggyback off of GT 5's tech like Yamauchi declared a year ago, then it should be easier to create and bring to market than GT 5. Then again, if there's going to be a Gran Turismo 6: Prologue and all that intermediate stuff – not to mention whatever features Yamauchi and his team decide to cram into GT 6 from now until then – we could be in for just as long of a wait.

I'm speechless at this.
Great, should be ready in time to miss the P$4 launch.
This guy needs to stfu until GT5 is released and PLAYED.
How about they worry about just getting 5 out first without the 10 delays.
Talking about 6 and 5 isn't even out yet. What a joke.
What a great way to slap so many people accross the face...
What is he standing next to, and is that a jedi avatar in the background? [wave hand] The game will be released soon.
We haven't even got our hands on GT 5 and there already talking about GT 6?Thats a little to soon.
Well when it takes 5 years, yes 5, to release a title - I suppose you have to start planning and development at little early...
Gran Turismo 4 was released in December of 2005. It's a strong title sure - but I find it a bit boring after awhile, as I've actually fallen asleep playing it!
What get GT 5 done first!
We will never see that game.
This is still gonna take probably close to 3 to 5 years to come out, I would bet my whole collection on it. These guys are the only console creators that put iD and Valve to shame when it comes to "when its done".
wow. they havent even release 5 yet. im guessing 6 will come out in another 15 years
Polyphony needs to invest in some PR and damage control x.x
Well I'm glad they are thinking of the next title but it seems a little bit too soon since GT5 hasn't even released.
Oh and how much do you want to bet that GT6, assuming it takes a minimum of four years, will be redeveloped for the PS4 which will probably come out in 2013-2015.
Releasing in 2026 for the Playstation 5.
This is so totally going to take 10+ years before the fake release date. and then it will be delayed for another five years.
