I actually liked the first Silent Hill movie. It's probably the only decent video game movie I've seen.

I consider the original Silent Hill to be the best video game movie ever made, but game movies have a bad history in sequels [think resident evil's decent into movie hell]. And since this already seems to be off to a rough start, well fingers crossed.

The first Silent Hill may be the best videogame film yet, but that's not saying much. As a huge, die-hard fan of the Sh series, the film screwed up in many ways. The characters, the story, and don't even get me started on Pyramid Head's appearance. No matter how cool you thought he was, there was NO reason he had to be there and seriously messed with his purpose.

As for this one, it's already in trouble. SH 3's story, but the synopsis makes me worry about what they'll get wrong. Also, WHY 3D? Can we please get off this fad and just have good films without "OMG that thing is right in front of me!" As if this needed another strike against it.  

Yep, I gotta agree with PurpleUnderdog. Silent Hill captured so many elements of the first four games, and the casting wasn't that bad, but atleast the majority of the cast were female, just like in the video games. All the other game-movies lack the true meaning of the games. Like the Resident Evil movies are action-packed, but nothing is scary about them. I don't even want to know about BloodRayne. DOA looks so cheesy. Prince of Persia would probably be one of the top game-movies. But, Silent Hill tops them all.

I'm not too sure about this.....this will definitely be a wait and see before I get even remotely excited about it. Especially with a new writer and director. Oh well, one can only hope......

So they're forgoing the SH2 storyline and jumping right in to SH3? Whatevers...

The first was horrible in my opinion, but I hope the second is a least decent.

seems like a decent idea to me, as long as it's true 3D and not Beowulf 3D.  Also would like to see it dive more into the psychological aspect of the games that was missing from the first movie.

The first film was okay, it had good cinematography, acting, makeup and SFX. However it had bad pacing. I felt way too long and the last act ruined the experience for me.

Sweet! I LOVE the first Silent Hill movie.

This has potential I suppose, and I actually have not seen the original film as I had heard so many negative reviews.  I'm still reeling from the MKII film and Street Fighter to expect anything positive from film adaptations of our favorite video games.  The sneaky trixy new MK video game trailer which many thought might be an advertisement for a new film was the closest thing to excited I have gotten and alas that was another huge letdown (although the game does have potential).  Is there ANY video game turned film that was any good?  RE 1,2,& 3 were decent I must admit, but that's all they were...decent.

At least they chose to go from SH3 instead of SH2 or The Room. Even though the crew is totally different and they're going to use *** 3D, it has some chance, slight as it may be, to be good based on the fact that it's based off of the best Silent Hill game...

Great another piece of *** with the Silent Hill name on it. For God sakes just give us a REAL remake of the first game and we'll be happy.

Roger Avary is in jail? Seems like there's a story there, what did he do?

Hmm, turns out he killed someone while driving drunk, he only got 1 year in jail, he's out now though.
