Trilobyte Games Releasing 7th Guest On iOS

Multimedia lives! Trilobyte Games has announced that it will be bringing its classic adventure game The 7th Guest to a new generation on iOS. The game will be available for download through iTunes in December, allowing players to explore the spooky Stauf mansion on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch for $3.99.

It's a far cry from the early days of CD-ROM gaming, when the game sold for $79.95 in 1993. The game was an early example of the new technology's potential, showing off live actors, voice acting, and state-of-the-art graphics.

Following the release of the 7th Guest, Trilobyte plans to release a new version of the game's sequel, the 11th Hour, as well as mobile versions of Psych, Let's Do Diddley, POV, and TLC.

  • Never played those games, but I heard they were horrifying.

  • The 7th guest made one of the top 10 scariest moments in gaming in the October 2007 issue, I remember Manhunt and Fatal Frame as well. I'm glad I can finally experience said terrifying moment so easily now once it releases.

  • I remember listening to that game's soundtrack on my CD player over and over. Good stuff. I wish they would release it on PC again...

  • HAHAHA. This is one of the first games I got for my brand new IBM Aptiva 386 my freshman year of college. I never finished it though (*** work and school!).

I brought it home and my mom wouldn't let me play it in the house because it was "an evil game".

  • Classic gaming! I love it with all these companies bringing back some of the true classics of gaming. Way to be Trilobyte!

  • 7th Guest was such a great game!  I'll be downloading this on the iPhone!  Now, if only I had an iPad to go with it.

  • That's good I guess

  • This was one of the scariest games I've ever played...or at least it was in '93/'94.  Loved the puzzles and stuff.  Wish they'd release it for Android...

  • Ah, the memories. It and 11th Hour were great. I would get them but I'm not going to go get an iWhatever just to play. Perhaps it will be on XBLA, PSN or GOG. What say you Trilobyte?

  • Thats awesome news. Glad that more people will be able to experience this game. It's not as well known as it should be these days.

  • Ahh... what a great experience this game was.  XBLA PLEASE!!!

  • Never played these games before.Looks creepy though so I might check it out.

  • I remember playing both this and the 11th hour back in the day, and they were great. Has Myst and its iterations been remade yet, because I think its about time :D Oh and Return to Zork would also be a cool remake... hopefully I'd be able to get past that *** vulture though lol

  • Not sure if I would buy this or not.

I went through the hassle of downloading a torrent of this game which I then configured to run through a virtual machine image of Windows, and once I got the game running, it felt SO dated to me. I played through the first 4-5 puzzles and got bored with it.

It's great that such an iconic game is being re-released for current consoles, but I'm not sure if it stands the test of time...

  • Actually, it would be kind of interesting to see revisit some of those old FMV titles. My favorites were Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine, and Ground Zero Texas.
