Dota 2 Official Website Launched

by Adam Biessener on Nov 02, 2010 at 06:36 AM

Valve opened up the official website for its upcoming action/RTS title with a helpful Q&A about the game. You may want to reinforce your F5 key to take the abuse it's sure to suffer between now and Dota 2's 2011 launch.

A few things we didn't cover in our exclusive reveal of the game are buried in IceFrog's answers to the community questions. You'll be able to reconnect to a game in progress if your connection drops. European and American gamers will be able to play together, and IceFrog's phrasing implies that Dota 2 will allow players from all regions to connect (are you paying attention, Blizzard?). Practice bots in offline mode will be highly customizable, with difficulty levels as well as behavioral biases if you want to practice against something specific like effective denial or harassment.

There's more there, but the one thing we're all waiting for – a release date – is predictably missing. You'd think that I'd be more philosophical about waiting for the game to be done since I've played it and all (neener neener!), but that just makes me want it all the more.
