Next C&C Coming From L.A., Not Visceral

Yesterday there was talk that EA's Visceral Games studio (Dead Space series) was starting work on a new Command & Conquer title. However, EA tells us a slightly different story.

The news originated from a Gamasutra interview with Visceral Games' general manager Nick Earl, who mentioned that EA was in the very early stages of a new Command & Conquer game. Apparently, however, Earl was talking about EA as a whole and not Visceral Games specifically.

EA confirmed with us that a new Command & Conquer title is indeed early in development, but that it was being handled by an Los Angeles-based team that reports to Earl in Redwood Shores, CA. Command & Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight (shown above) was developed by EA's LA studio, and although it is unknown at this time if that's the L.A. team that is on this nascent C&C game, given that developer's history with the franchise, we'd be surprised if it wasn't.

  • cool :)

  • Wait L.A. or Louisiana? Back when I tested at EA's NATC facility here in Baton Rouge we had a giant Tiberium Twilight Banner.

  • Darn I like Visceral

  • Darn I like Visceral

  • Bring back westwood!  Or the guys that used to be in westwood before it was destroyed.  I believe they made Universe at war actually under a new company name.  Petroglyph? Something like that.

  • Sadly, I cannot get pumped for this.  C&C 4 and Red Alert 3 were terrible...even insulting to us longtime fans of the series.  Generals was good, but not up to par with the rest of the series.  Command & Conquer was my beloved series when I was a child.  It is such a shame what EA has done to it.  I wish Westwood or somebody with a love for the series would come back and restore it to its former glory.  Until then, it will remain entrenched in the shadow of Star Craft and be forgotten on store shelves.

  • I'm like one of those RTS players who doesn't cheat on their RTS games, I can't hurt Starcraft 2's feelings by fraternizing with this C&C nonsense.

  • Ugh. LA is one of EA's weakest studios.

  • Lets just hope they don't drop the ball on single player this time. Please guys, we don't all just go online. Gimme some juicy cheesiness in all its glory. That's why I play C&C.
