Sony Moves 1.5 Million Moves in Europe

In an interview with Bloomberg News, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe head Andrew House said that the company has been experiencing strong sales in European territories for both PlayStation 3 and its new PlayStation Move motion controller.

"Sales have been significantly up year-on-year in a market that has been overall slightly down,” he said. Due to high demand in Europe and North America, House revealed that Sony believes that it will actually exceed its projections of selling 15 million PS3s during the current fiscal year.

House also boasted of stronger-than-expected sales of the PlayStation Move controller in Europe. In the month since its release, House said the company has sold 1.5 million Moves across all European territories. This good news led House to claim that Sony is on target to restore its game division to profitability by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2011.

  • I would buy a move if i didn't already have a wii.

I understand that the move is thousands of times more accurate than the wii but i don't like motion games anyway.
Good thing i have the homebrew channel or i wouldn't have any use for the wii except for zelda and smash bros.
  • Mod
Wonder what the North American numbers are. I also wonder what constitutes a move sale, is it one Move controller=1 sale?

I have two controllers, 2 navigation controllers and of course the playstation eye, I wonder if this counts as 4 sales or one. Or somewhere inbetween.
  • I have a Wii, but I want the move. I plan on having by sometime around Christmas.

  • Good on you Sony, lets just hope Move sales in NA pickup

  • Sales would be even better if stores could keep extra motion controllers in stock!  Those things are sold out everywhere!

  • thats alot of controllers.

  • Good for sony take that everyone who said it wouldn't sell ha.

  • I knew it. Only of I could find one

  • Woo.  Good for you Sony.  Makes me proud to own one.

I have to say, playing through Heavy Rain again with it has been pretty awesome.

  • I haven't got ps move because there is not enough game for it. By enough i'm mean good games. I would probably get if there more shooting games like, house of the dead, or bring the classic old school shooter games.

  • I still haven't seen any Move game that makes me want to drop $130 (Move bundle plus nav controller) in addition to the cost of a game. That's a lot of bones for what is, for me, essentially a gimmick.

Perhaps if I were to ever need a new PS3 maybe I'd go for the PS3/Move bundle. However, that's not likely anytime soon as the one I have now is a 250GB slim bought in April after my 40GB fatboy died.
  • Keep it up!

  • That's the thing.  It's looks fine and I was about to buy one, but then I looked online for games...and there is literally nothing but crap out right now.  Not a single thing interested me.  I'll wait to hear how it plays with fps, once they are released.

  • It did a lot better than I thought it would. I am happy though because I have it and it is awesome.

  • I don't own a Wii because it was not high def. I always wanted to try motion controls and the Move works great. I'm playing RE5 and Heavy Rain with it but my favorite is RUSE. I play RTS game on my PC all the time and the Move makes it easier and faster than using a mouse. I didn't think that was possible. I'm very happy with the Move and look forward to getting Kinect as well. Hopefully they get some better titles in the near future besides Dance Central and the battle mech game.

  • I bought a PS3/Move bundle, and  the Move is definitely better than the Wii.  The PS3 is also an amazing system.  I can't wait until more Move-enabled games are available.

  • This is utter lies.  False utter lies.  NO SALES KEEPER HAS EVEN SAID MOVE SALES HAVE BEEN THIS HIGH.  NONE.  Just Sony.  Look around everyone.  Move is at 4 weeks and it a actually only has 400,000 units sold.  I wouldn't be surprised that this is "projected sales."  Nice job GI, for kissing Sony's ass again.

I've posted so many times that GI is biased towards Sony, and the fact that you would even believe this spoon fed *** is amazing.

    gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/.../playstation-move-470000-units-sold-in-four-weeks

Go check those facts.  I'd take my data from a data company versus a journalist any time.

  • I'm glad. The move far exceeded my expectations, but I think I'm waiting for that Sorcery game.

  • I don't know; House is usually wrong until the very last second.

    It's never Lupus...
