Windows Phone 7 Event Gears Up For November Launch

by Bryan Vore on Oct 11, 2010 at 07:50 AM

Microsoft held a big press conference this morning to show off the upcoming Windows Phone 7 line. While the OS does look sweet, the name of our site is Game Informer. So what's in it for gamers?

The game that got the biggest focus during the presentation was SouthEnd Interactive's ilomilo, a puzzle game in which you have to reunite the titular Ilo and Milo. The game will be exclusive to AT&T Windows phone for a bit and will also be released on Xbox Live Arcade with different levels. EA also revealed a handful of titles for the platform this fall with Need for Speed Undercover, Tetris, and The Sims 3. EA vows to support Xbox Live functionality with all of its Windows Phone titles.

Xbox Live on WP7 looks pretty similar to what you'd see on the full Xbox Live. You can customize your avatar, keep track of who's online, and (we're assuming) earn some achievement points.

We hope to get some hands-on time with the devices in the future to test how everything integrates. We'll be sure to pass along the details when that all comes together. For now, here's a listing of the Windows phones that will be hitting the U.S. this holiday. It sounds like most of them will be priced around the $200 mark.

AT&T

  • HTC Surround
  • Samsung Focus
  • LG Quantum

T-Mobile
