Ninja Theory Pondered Sending Nariko To Hell

by Andy McNamara on Oct 07, 2010 at 04:49 AM

Fans have been clamoring for a Heavenly Sword update since the PlayStation 3 exclusive was released back in 2007. Developer Ninja Theory hasn't announced plans to revisit the game, focusing instead on its Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and upcoming Devil May Cry reboot, but that hasn't stopped the team from at least thinking about what such a sequel would entail.

In a reader Q&A with the VG247, Ninja Theory's chief designer Tameem Antoniades sketched out at least one deliciously dark idea he floated around.

"I had this idea that you would play Nariko who finds herself trapped in Hell by the spirit of the sword," he said. "Kai would be playable in the real world and would communicate with Nariko and try and help rescue her soul."

While the idea of taking a hack-and-slash game to the depths of hell isn't necessarily a new idea, we have to say that we'd love to see what Ninja Theory could bring to the table.
