No Rock Band 3 Keyboard Bundles For PS3

by Matt Helgeson on Oct 01, 2010 at 11:30 AM

If you own a PlayStation 3 and pre-ordered a Rock Band 3 keyboard bundle, we have some bad news for you. Today, Harmonix announced that -- due to "agreement terms" in the North American region -- the keyboard bundles has been canceled in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. While they didn't get specific as to what the contractual issues that prevent the bundle are, the company promised that MTV Games and peripheral maker Mad Catz will be working to allow retailers that were taking pre-orders for the keyboard bundle to honor them as "soft bundles" for the price of the pre-order. This would basically mean that you would get the game and an individually packaged keyboard controller for the agreed upon price of the now-canceled bundle. However, this is strictly up to the individual retailers, so if you have a pre-order you should probably give your local store a call to see what their policy will be.

Harmonix said that keyboards for PS3 will still be available as stand-alone products in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This announcement does not affect Xbox 360 or Wii owners, as the bundle will still be available for those platforms. In addition, this does not affect gamers in Europe, it's strictly a North American issue.
