Weekend Warrior 09/24/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Sep 24, 2010 at 02:00 PM

Weekend Warrior: We tell you what we're doing this weekend, you tell us what you're doing this weekend. Read on and share your plans.

Andy: My weekend will be amazingly simple. Civ V, The Wire, Bayonetta, Halo: Reach. Rise. Wash. Repeat as necessary.

Reiner: Game Informer's November issue is loaded with features and is one of the largest issues we've put together in a long time. The book is coming along nicely, but given the workload it's produced, we are a bit behind. That means I'll be working at least one day this weekend. When I have spare time, I'm going to try and finish Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. If you haven't played this game yet, make it a priority. I'm also going to watch history in the making this Sunday. I predict the Detroit Lions will win their first away game in three years.

Bertz: Since my Samsung HDTV decided to call it quits (thus rendering my consoles useless), I'm spending the majority of my weekend teaching world leaders like Napoleon, Ghandi, and Montezuma to stay off my land in Civ V. Sunday will likely consist of Brett Favre throwing five interceptions as the Vikings continue their slide by losing to the Lions, so rival countries better prep for war. Something is getting set on fire!

Jeff C: What am I doing this weekend? Funny you should ask! I’m clearing out a brush pile in the back yard, mowing the lawn, and vacuuming. Oh. Games? I’ll probably play a little EyePet with my son, do a few laps in Split Second, and maybe play a little Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on Xbox Live. I’ve been playing a lot of MiniSquadron on my phone, too, and it’s completely great.

Bryan: I’m crossing my fingers that Ben lets me borrow Halo: Reach. I finally blasted through Legendary difficulty on Halo 3: ODST with Cork, JeffM, and Ben and I want more! If that doesn’t work out, I’ll try to finally finish up Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

Joe: I'm spending most of my time this weekend with my handhelds, playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 on PSP and Professor Layton on DS. When I have time to actually sit on my couch, I plan on tackling the latest Mass Effect 2 DLC, Lair of the Shadow Broker. I hope it helps Liara make some strides toward being less of a let-down.

Annette: The past couple weeks have been pretty travel heavy so now that I'm back I've been busy wrapping up pieces for our current issue. With that behind me I plan on finally starting up the Japanese version of Pokémon White I picked up while at TGS. I may not understand the text, but I really look forward to checking out the new world and giving the new starters a test run.

Phil: I’m going to sink the majority of my weekend into Final Fantasy XIV. Now that the final game is up and running for PC, I’m going to try to make it much further than I did in open beta. So far, I’m pleased with how smoothly the game is running compared to beta, but I hope the story and questing experience remains consistent. Look for impressions soon! If I need a break from the massive world of Eorzea, I’ve got a ton of XBLA games I’ve been meaning to spend some time with – particularly Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light – and I still want to dig into some Civilization V.

Tim: This weekend I’ll be plugging away at Valkyria Chronicles II. If my Xbox Live account starts behaving maybe I’ll check out some Hydrophobia, too. There may be some room for a little game called Halo: Reach, too.

That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
