Just What I Always Wanted To Haunt My Nightmares: Mario's Skeleton

by Phil Kollar on Sep 20, 2010 at 03:55 PM

Some commenters have started accusing me of specifically looking for stories that are meant to freak them out. That's not true, but this one probably isn't going to help me make my case, so I guess I'll just roll with it. Jason Freeny is an artist who does custom sculptures showing off the horrifying insides of otherwise cute characters. His latest subject is none other than Nintendo mascot Mario.

You can check out the Mario sculpt at various points in its creation on Jason's Facebook page, where he mentions that he'll be showing it off at New York Comic-Con in a couple of weeks.

He has sold previous sculpts for quite a bit of dough, so if you're interested in owning this monstrosity, stay tuned and save up. Either way, be sure to check out the Freeny's various projects. They're actually pretty awesome and well-done if a little freaky.
