Fan-Made Halo 2D Game Firefight Demo Out Now

by Matt Helgeson on Sep 16, 2010 at 01:58 PM

Indie developer TriBlox_Studios has been working on Halo: Out With a Whimper, a 2D, side-scrolling adaptation of the Halo universe for a while now. Recently, it released a brand-new demo of the game, a taste of the famous survival mode Firefight.

While neither Bungie or Microsoft has given the game its official endorsement, TriBlox states that the game was "created under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules, using assets from Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars and Halo: Reach, copyright Microsoft Corporation."

Here's the official summary of the game's plotline:

Halo: Out With a Whimper is a 2D side-scrolling fan game currently under development. It is the year 2552, Earth has fallen to the Covenant, and the Human mining colony, Atlas, remains mankind's last stronghold - but not for long. A Covenant invasion force has begun its ruthless assault on the planet. Their only hope for survival rests in the hands of SPARTAN Red Team, but will this be enough to lead the UNSC to victory, or will Atlas become another orbit of glass?
