PaRappa The Rapper Creator Making Haunted House Sim For Kinect

During their TGS 2010 keynote tonight, Microsoft announced a number of new partnerships with Japanese developers. One of the most surprising is Haunt, a haunted house simulator in the works from NanaOn-Sha, the same developer that brought us PaRappa the Rapper.

Haunt seems to be a cartoony, first-person haunted house game. It's possible on rails, and it looks like players will use Kinect to control a flashlight (and presumably other objects). Haunt is currently planned for a 2011 release. We'll update if we get a chance to see more at TGS.

  • WOW if Kinect wasn't going to suck this might be cool.

  • that would be sick, but whos buying kinect?

  • Oh no! They already tried this on Wii, and it was awful. Wonder what the achievements will be like...

  • I don't like being scared, but a haunted house sounds like a perfect party game for the Kinect.  Definitely a rent though.

  • on rails? cartoony? come on...

If its like that, then no way I'll even think about buying it. But, on the other hand, make it a creepy fun game, where I can walk freely, and I'm interested.

I seriously doubt kinect will allow you to do that though. I'm not impressed at all.

Btw... who the hell is PaRappa the Rapper? wait... I dont even wanna know.

  • Kick, punch, it's all in your mind / If you wanna test me I'm sure you'll find that this game will more than likely go unnoticed unless Microsoft does something about that $150 price tag.

  • Mod

If they don't have a beanie-capped puppy jumping out and delivering some rhymes it's gonna fail.

  • A haunted house sim? Because that worked so well on the Wii.

  • < Still surprised by all the open Kinect hate. This sounds like a fun idea to me. Whenever I play any suspenseful games I wait until after sundown and play with my girlfriend watching, it's always good fun though sometimes a bit distracting when I'm dying from playing a high difficulty or whatever... apply the same ideas to a casual possibly somewhat quirky Kinect title... why not? The only bad thing would be the need to play with lights on.

  • This is STUPID!

  • If I do get Kinect, then I'll probably rent this. It looks interesting.

  • This reminds me of Stay alive(movie). This is on my watch list
