UPDATED: Capcom Reveals Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor For Kinect, First Trailer

by Phil Kollar on Sep 15, 2010 at 06:28 PM

If you were interested in Steel Battalion, Capcom's crazy mech sim from last generation, but didn't want to fork over the money for the insane controller it came with, Capcom has good news for you. The franchise is being revived on Microsoft's controller-less Kinect hardware.

Capcom head Keiji Inafune appeared at Microsoft's TGS 2010 keynote to reveal the revived title. Unlike the original, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor will be developed by the mech-heads at From Software. The game takes place in 2082 in a world without computers but full of crazy giant mechs trying to destroy each others.

Inafune promised that the title will be a "core" gamer release despite using the more casual audience-focused Kinect hardware. He didn't provide any info on how the complicated controller from the original will be translated over to Kinect, but we'll update as soon as we know more.
