The lights are on
Now that our October cover has been unveiled, it's time to get a better look at BioShock Infinite with these three exclusive screenshots. The images showcase the outdoor environments of Columbia, from the war-torn streets to a park with an idyllic gazebo. Columbia's visual style is a departure from the underwater corridors of Rapture, and this is an intentional shift in direction. If the original BioShock's artistic vibe could be summed up as "New Year's Eve, 1959," the phrase that the team at Irrational uses to describe Infinite is "Fourth of July, 1912."
You don't need to take my word for it, though. Judge for yourself by clicking on the images below to see the full-sized screens.
Be sure to pick up a copy of the latest issue to see even more exclusive images, including an in-game shot of the 30-foot behemoth chasing after Elizabeth and Booker. Also, don't forget to check out our BioShock Infinite hub all month for even more in-depth info!

Safe to say, this is not the bioshock i know. But if Irrationals makin it, it must be good
Loved the first one, enjoyed the second one, but Irrational Game's departure from Bioshock 2 made it lose the luster and wonder of the first. To see that Irrational Games is returning for Infinite and is giving us a new setting to explore is AWESOME!
I've never played either of the first two (they're on my GameFly list, honest!) but this part 3 looks even more like Fallout, which is awesome!
As long as the core gameplay is the same, I'm fine with a change, and I'm sure irrational will prevail with a hit.
hey the bioshock infinite hub link is broken
I really gotta say, this game looks amazing. The departure from Rapture is a welcome change. The view had started to become depressing.
The art style looks a little too cartoony for a game that should end up tackling some kind of deep concept, although that won't stop me from being excited if the game expands on some of the concepts...
The fact that these screens and one of the October GI covers show a different robotic man make me think there's multiple, much like the Big Daddies. I was kind of hoping for Nemesis-like encounters with a single entity.
...just wait until you get the issue. :)
I get it from the mail, and I'm a bit disappointed, but it had to happen- might as well happen now.
So is it safe to assume thats this games big daddy.
much lighter then the first game. Will be interesting to see how it does in a completely new setting
If they're gonna call that thing a big daddy as well, I'll have a bone to pick with them
Wait, never played Bioshock one or two, but wasn't it horror? This doesn't look scary to me... Wikipedia time!
Its nice to see some colour in the series but the creepy atmosphere seems all but gone now.
I want to see some screens of FPS action, new plasmids and what not... this tells us nothing except that i need robotic implants to kick some ass.
im glad theyre not using rapture as a setting anymore, kinda got tired of it
