Voting has officially closed for the Gears of War 3 Fate of Carmine charity event, a campaign that allowed fans to purchase shirts that would determine the fate of another Carmine, which historically never ends well for those bearing that name. Though, it seems last we checked that fans were pulling to keep him around. Weird.

Epic's Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson appeared at the G4 panel to let everyone know the shirts raised $150,000 for Child's Play. So what's going to happen to Carmine?

"Although the fate of Carmine has been sealed, we can't tell you right now," Bleszinski says. Guess we'll have to wait until Gears 3 comes out.

I'm glad they're keeping it a surprise.

I'd love it if he turns out to die, but they fake you out with close calls 2-3 times before finally doing it.

Just looking at my friends list on the dashboard, I saw at least 10 people wearing the save carmine shirt, and only one person with the kill carmine. I hope he lives.

I just showed Gears 2 to a friend this weekend, and he was mocking the dialogue, visual style, acting, music, and general effect the entire time, but the most obvious, heavy handed moronic plot device has to be how completely plain as day it is that Carmine is dead meat from the first moment. Yes, please keep us in suspense!
