Earth Defense Force Returns In Insect Armageddon

A website hosting a logo for what appears to be an Earth Defense Force follow-up just went live, with little fanfare and no official announcement to mark its debut. Branded Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, we expect the game would have more creepy crawlies to take on with a ludicrous arsenal of weapons.

We’ve contacted D3 Publisher to confirm the validity of the site, and to find any other details they may have to offer. But for now, how many of you would be excited to join the ranks of the Earth Defense Force again?

[Thanks to Perfect Disaster for the tip!]

  • I'm in! EDF is a blast.

  • I haven't actually played the first one, but I've a lot of good stuff about it (in a "it's so bad it's good" sort of way) and I hope that if this is true then D3 would bring it to PS3 as well.

  • awesome! can't wait

  • Never heard of this game until now(why is only one person putting up news today?)

  • im all for it as long as they make the vehicals more easy to drive....

  • Make the enemies a little stronger and you  go a set buyer.

  • Time to hunt more bugs!

  • Staff

OH MAN! I hope this isn't some stupid cell phone game.

  • Awesome!! Earth Defense Force is one of the most addicting games on the 360. It is the type of bad game that is so good because of its badness....Yeah, I sad "badness". The only things I can hope for is that this is for next gen consoles, not the Wii or PSP. Also, that it includes online coop and a bigger budget.

I can't wait for some info on this sequel!

  • I'd like to see an Earth Defense Force game come from a US developer actually. Its such a great idea, and PERFECT for a budget/DLC release if you ask me. But the Japanese can't make a good shooter...at least most of 'em. Vanquish plays awesome, Devil's Third looks sweet, and Kojima probably could make one if he wanted to. Heck, even Quantum Theory could be solid. But mostly, they're just janky.

A studio like Spark Unlimited or Timegate could make an awesome EDF honestly, should Namco/D3 ever want to enlist the talents of a small-to-medium size US Studio. Like Capcom with Dead Rising 2.

  • If this is real I am going to b so pumped, as long as its for consoles. The first game was so much fun to play so I'm really hoping that they made a sequel.

  • EDF with some more refined gameplay, maybe customizable weapons/abilities and better vehicles. With LOTS of zany enemy types of course.

And online co-op for you and 3 of your closest friends.

Give me those things, and Im in.

  • I'm definitely looking forward to more EDF goodness.

  • I'll have to look this up... because I've never heard of it.

  • Pretty cool, original looked good.

  • The first one was ok but got old after about 2 hours once you realized the game only has like 5 levels that get used 50 times. I did get $14 when I traded it in though, which was pretty boss since I got it for $22

  • The sheer campy brilliance of this game is hard to beat. I'd play this in a heartbeat.

  • I've never heard of this game but it sounds pretty fun.

  • EDF 2017 is one of my favorite games for 360.  My friend and I still co-op it to this day.  Of course I'd like to see some technical improvements for a sequel, but don't mess with the shoddy "plot."  My biggest hope is that the sequel will let both players (or maybe all 4...) earn achievements.

  • I LOVE EDF!!!!!   Great game, and for $9 all flaws were excused.
