The lights are on
A recent post on Sega Europe's official blog was full of good news for fans of the Yakuza series. Not only is Yakuza 4 headed west, but it will include more of the adult-oriented content that was cut out of Yakuza 3.
The post reveals that Yakuza 4 will be coming out in Europe and the US in Spring 2011. The site is currently accepting questions for Yakuza producer Toshihiro Nagoshi to answer, but so many people wrote in about Yakuza 3's censorship in the west that the author of the post went ahead and confirmed that the game's hostesses will be returning to the fourth installment of the series. Finally, we too can pay video game women in-game currency to pretend to like us!

didnt yakuza 3 came out like a couple months ago
yes i can't wait!!
I guess Sega has found out just how many units Yakuza sells in the west to actually make a profit. I remember when Yakuza 1 came out and they were so disappointed by its US/EU sales that we were questioning whether or not we'd ever get Y2. Now we've gotten 3 and we're getting 4!?! That's awesome news.
Sega just needs to keep concentrating on fewer, better games and rebuild their company and reputation from there. Their Platinum stuff (Vanquish looks and plays awesome, at least going by the demo), Valkyria Chronicles (next one best be back on PS3), Sonic 4, Sonic Colors (Unleashed without the werehog? Yes, please!), After Burner Climax, and now Yakuza 4. I feel like they're starting to "get it".
Of course, they still put out Iron Man 2, are publishing the Conduit 2 (no offense to High Voltage, I don't know why anyone would be excited for that), and are re-releasing Dreamcast titles on XBLA without any improvements. So, they're still ironing out a few things obviously. But hopefully they'll start to focus on what made a "Sega game" special, and start getting behind games that have that sort of feeling or style about them. And less of these underwhelming western, "gritty" games that have no business having the Sega name on them.
The only thing that would make this worth playing would be if they overhauled the gameplay
How has this mediocrity been able to last so long while much more deserving franchises are discontinued so often?!
Cool. Glad the series is now consistently being released here.
Holy crap, I didn't even know Yakuza 4 already existed!
hooray for adult-oriented content
On the one hand, I'm glad its coming for the people that enjoy the series. On the other, the game needs a serious revamp in gameplay and mechanics and story. But since its garnered enough support the way it is, we will probably never see any changes made in the near future..
:(
I guess this is good for fans of this series.
I don't get it, hostess bars? Is that Japanese for hookers?
