The lights are on
OnLive, the on-demand, cloud-based gaming console, announced today that the service will be adding wi-fi support (in beta form) on Labor Day."Wi-Fi support has been the most requested feature among OnLive members, so we made it a top development priority and were able to roll out a beta version ahead of schedule,” said Mike McGarvey, OnLive’s COO. “We’re continuing to add new features and enhance the service, as well as expand the list of top new release games."In addition to wi-fi, the company will be offering 50 percent off on all games available on the service over Labor Day weekend. In addition, it's extending its AT&T Founding Members Program, a limited time offer of a free one-year membership to the service. (For all the fine print on the Founding Members Program, go here)

I remember there was a time when I thought this idea was cool... *looks over at brand new computer, 360S and PS3* but... not so much anymore.
Hallelujah! And, I just emailed their support about this a last week.
I wonder if they're considering possibly not charging a subscription fee. Because, it kinda looks like they're testing the waters of how it would look financially.
Interesting idea. The primary reason I moved from PC gaming to console was becuase it's FAR more difficult to cheat using "helper" programs with a console than with a PC. I spent many hours being frustrated by people using wall hacks, radar hacks, model replacements, etc in PC shooters.
I wonder if they can get around that with this system?
When does this come out cause i havent seen this come out
Ok this keeps looking better and better, can you only buy it through AT&T? Or could I pick this thing up at Best Buy or something.
I don't think i ever heard about this before.
OnLIVE still exists? I still don't know how to feel about this. Seems like lag could be a huge issue.
Great idea...HORRID control scheme...the xbox controller is NOT the controller you wanna follow suit to. it's just too horribly complicated...now if they made a simpler controller to hold and to use, i would possibly think about buying this product for a quick on hands review, but because of the controller's build, this is just not worth it.
They haven't even rolled out the TV "micro-console" yet, you have to play on a pc or mac.
It's "free" for a year and then its 5 bucks a month. There are many games that you can rent for like 5 or 6 bucks for three days or 6 to 9 bucks for five days. But for some of the new releases you have to pay for it all without an option to rent. Some are old and cheap but Mafia II for instance was 50 bucks. So for 50 bucks you can own it as long as you pay the 5 bucks a month membership fee. Or you can buy it on a disk for a console and play it without conditions or even if you don't have internet. Oh and you need a minimum of 3mb connection but they recommend 5mb for onlive. The most I can get here is 1mb and I hardly ever have lag on XBL. It's only 5 bucks a month and thats optional for single player.
That sounds like a terrible deal to me.
O come on really At&t has HORRIBLE WIFI! You would have been better off using sprint
