The lights are on
Between various high-ranking individuals leaving the company and rumored future project cancellations, the pieces have been in place for something bad happening at LucasArts for a while. It appears today was the day for the bad news to hit. The publisher has confirmed staff cuts, and insider talk suggests that a lot of people were let go.
Kotaku has the official response from LucasArts, which says that the company is "reorganizing its teams to better address the needs of the internal studio." An unnamed former employer called the layoffs a "massacre," estimating that as many as 60 people were let go from the development team, with an additional 25 from production and QA out of the job.
The insider also noted that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 went gold last week, meaning development work on it was entirely finished. This is traditionally the normal time for layoffs to happen, as the publisher can cut team members without affecting any projects that are near completion.

Companies are just laying off by the truck load aren't they?
Well best of luck to the people that got laid off and hope the best for them.
Lets hope that the Star Wars: TFU3 gets made.
aah, that sucks, well, like xplay92 said, best of luck to the staff that got laid off
obviously the video game industry is not a good place to be
so many layoffs
im still waiting for battlefront 3 :[
It's a *** shame. If the workers knew about it, they should have dragged their feet as long as they could to get a steady pay check. I'll be happy when the economy finally picks up, and people can get their jobs back.
I feel bad for all the people who got laid off, tough economy... But I'm glad TFU II got finished!!!
What a shame.
Man, that's a shame. Wish the industry was steadier. Places like Epic Games are adding to their studios and expanding their staff while other companies are just folding. But that's life.
Dang that stinks, I love Star Wars games.
Sad day...
Why?
Hire them all back and make them get to work on a current generation, fully HD, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter remake.
Just IMO.
This sums it up perfectly.

What the heck is happening on LucasArts? Let us just hope that Star Wars Battlefront 3 gets made. And I hope the laid off people find a good place to work.
Sheesh... how does a studio with so much financial backing cutback so hard seemingly out of no where?
This could put a damper on any decent Star Wars games.
They should use this part of lucus arts that is being laid off and assign them to a devolopment team. I think anybody who has watched the "Hope" trailer wishes they would just make a new star wars CGI movie lol. That trailer has potential to be a good f-ing movie lol.
*Yes i know its for SWTOR but come on! Give these guys a project that will certinally bring home the bacon.
This new guy in charge of LucasArts is going to single-handedly destroy the company.
This is an example of why to CUT taxes for companies. (if they had the extra money they could keep employees)
