GI And Irrational Unveil BioShock Infinite Cover And Gameplay Demo At PAX

Want to see BioShock Infinite in action? Come to Game Informer's PAX panel discussion this weekend. The panel will shed some light on our process of selecting and crafting magazine covers, and also mark first time that Irrational's next game is shown to the gaming public. During our presentation, the lucky few who manage to get in the doors get to watch the 10-minute demo.

We will also reveal the cover art for our upcoming issue, which will go a long way toward answering the questions many have had about the game. As always, expect our cover story to feature tons of in-depth details about the game's story and gameplay that you can't find anywhere else.

The gameplay demo will not appear online until a later date, but we will be posting our BioShock cover art on our site the day of the panel. For all the details regarding the event, here's the official statement from Irrational Games:

Irrational Games will present BioShock Infinite gameplay footage to the public for the first time during this Saturday's Game Informer panel at the Penny Arcade Expo.

A few weeks ago, a few members of the press were invited to join Irrational Games in New York for the unveiling of BioShock Infinite. During that closed-doors event, we unveiled a short trailer as well as nearly 10 minutes of gameplay footage, but only the trailer was released online.

We are pleased to announce that on Saturday, during our joint panel. with Game Informer at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, we will be screening that gameplay demonstration to the public for the first time. The session, "From Concept to Cover: The Game Informer Selection Process," will feature team members from Game Informer and Irrational discussing how video game magazine covers are chosen, with examples drawn from the upcoming October issue of the magazine.

We're looking forward to releasing the footage later this month for everyone to enjoy – and we'll keep you updated on when and where that will happen once those details are locked down – but PAX attendees who show up for the Game Informer panel will have the first opportunity to see the world of Columbia explored in real-time.

When: Saturday, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Where: Unicorn Theatre

Who: Andy McNamara [Editor In Chief, Game Informer], Andy Reiner [Executive Editor, Game Informer], Leonie Manshanden [Director of Marketing, Irrational], Shawn Robertson [Lead Artist, Irrational]

  • Hope it looks better than the last game!

  • Who isn't surprised? Raise your hand and say "Ai"

    *Raises hand* Ai!

  • Sounds awesome. I'll be looking forward to the next issue and the last issue (since I resubscribes I still haven't gotten it yet).

  • I'm excited about this game, but it's not coming out until 2012. Why are they revealing all this so early? A lot of time you don't even know the official box art until a few months before release.

  • This game is so close and yet so far away(sadly, farther away then closer).

  • I live in Seattle and have my tickets.

    See you fellas there.

  • sweet!

  • Why do I have the feeling Bioshock Infinite will be amazing and is it the cover of the next issue?

  • I wish you guys could put the PAX panel on the web like you did the 3 game informer shows of E3.  I hope y'all have fun at good ole' PAX!

  • Ugh I so wish I was going to PAX! Hope this shows people that this game will not be like Bioshock 2 and that IG is going to release another beautiful and stellar game.

  • Glad Infinite was chosen for the cover, I'm sure it will look great.

  • I can't wait to see the upcoming articles about this game.

  • I really wish I could go to PAX, just for this.

  • Awesome. I haven't played any of the Bioshock's but that trailer made me want to buy this game! Looking forward to the next issue.

  • It's so far away though!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I look forward to both!

  • This is the most excited I've been for an issue of G.I. in a while.

  • Rad news. Glad to hear they are showing off gameplay already! Hopefully development is coming along smoothly.

  • I can't wait to get this issue!

  • This will probably fall on deaf ears, not to mention you probably already wrote the article, but, I hope there aren't too many spoilers. I may not be able to read the article, I haven't played the game yet . . .

Spare it, I DO own the original :P . . . just haven't gotten around to it. Playing RDR right now. I think Bioshock will be a better 'getting cold outside' type of game.
