Ubisoft To Announce Outland At PAX

With PAX just around the corner we can expect to hear a few exciting video game announcement. Ubisoft has jumped the gun already and has started to tease that it will be revealing a new downloadable game for Xbox Live and PSN called Outland.

We don't know any detail about Outland, other than the fact that it will be for both PSN and Xbox Live and that Ubisoft will be officially announcing the game this weekend at PAX. 1UP has suggested that the game could be based on the upcoming Outland film, which is a remake of the 1981 Sci-fi thriller staring Sean Connery.

One things for sure, if this new game features Sean Connery holding a shotgun, then Ubisoft has already sold one copy.

  • I wonder what the game is like

  • Holy cow - BONUS POINTS for you, Game Informer! The embedded pic of that awesome Sean Connery movie is suh-weet!

Anyway, I really, REALLY dig Ubi Soft picking up movie licenses to make DLC games. At least, if Scott Pilgrim is any indication. Hopefully - if it is just a movie tie in - they'll keep up the streak of more inventive games to release on the digital storefronts.

Licensed games seldom deserve a retail disc being pressed (Clash of the Titans says hello), and if you can't make a really entertaining $15 dollar game from the property, why the hell would you be trusted to make an entertaining movie-to-game adaptation for $60?

  • I bet it's a Sean Connery game where he's a cop on a moon of Jupiter.

  • On Jupiter's moon, it's ok to be out of a space suit.
