The lights are on
It’s a social networking generation, so TV commercials and magazine ads are no longer the only weapon in a marketing team’s arsenal. To demonstrate this fact, Namco Bandai just announced that Ninja Theory’s new action title Enslaved: Odyssey to the West would be hijacking the front page of YouTube on August 31.
In addition to taking over the landing page to YouTube, Namco will be running an pre-order bonus exclusively through GameStop. YouTube visitors will have access to additional pre-order items, have to opportunity to view Enslaved gameplay videos, download free wallpapers and icons, and have the chance to enter GameStop’s month-long Enslaved “Dream Home Entertainment Center” sweepstakes in which one Grand prize winner will receive a fully furnished entertainment center including a television, surround sound speakers, choice of Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 console, a limited edition Enslaved statue, and a copy of the video game.
Enslaved is one of the more exciting Namco titles we’ve seen in a while, so we’re happy to see some marketing muscle behind the game, but we wonder what all the people just looking for funny cat videos will think when they go to YouTube on the 31st.
[Full disclosure: Game Stop is the parent company of Game Informer.]

Wow namco must have a lot of faith in Enslaved. They had me hooked when i first got light of this title.
This is going to be a good game.
I was one of the lucky few to win a limited edition comic con copy of the Enslaved comic. I have not opened it. I fear opening it.
Hijacking the front page of YouTube that might just be the best thing to come to YouTube.
it seems like a pretty cool game, i really hope it doesn't end up sucking
Thats cool and all but it might get annoying seeing ads while just wanting to see a vid like Ben stated.
I do very much hope that this title succeeds commercially, provided the quality is up to spec... Ninja Theory could use it.
I still don't know about this game.
That's kind of cool and I'm excited for the game, but I'm waiting on the review for it. I've been burned in the past by games so I stick to those reviews.
That had to have cost Namco a small fortune. I hope it pays off for them and Ninja Theory.
Definitely looking forward to this game.
That don't seem like much for the limited edition wall paper, and screen shots lame... But the sweep stakes seem cool...
Hell YEAH!! I love me some Enslaved! Can't wait for the game to come out.
I'm not looking forward to this game. There're just so many awesome games coming out that this one isn't on my radar. I hope the aggressive advertising works for them, though.
This game looks like it might turn out to be one of those classics.
This is a must have for me, and goody-goody it looks like my decision on where to pre-order has been made.
I've been fiending for this game since day one! Come on October!!!
