Namco’s Enslaved Takes Over YouTube

by Ben Reeves on Aug 30, 2010 at 09:12 AM

It’s a social networking generation, so TV commercials and magazine ads are no longer the only weapon in a marketing team’s arsenal. To demonstrate this fact, Namco Bandai just announced that Ninja Theory’s new action title Enslaved: Odyssey to the West would be hijacking the front page of YouTube on August 31.

In addition to taking over the landing page to YouTube, Namco will be running an pre-order bonus exclusively through GameStop. YouTube  visitors will have access to additional pre-order items, have to opportunity to view Enslaved gameplay videos, download free wallpapers and icons, and have the chance to enter GameStop’s month-long Enslaved “Dream Home Entertainment Center” sweepstakes in which one Grand prize winner will receive a fully furnished entertainment center including a television, surround sound speakers, choice of Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 console, a limited edition Enslaved statue, and a copy of the video game.

Enslaved is one of the more exciting Namco titles we’ve seen in a while, so we’re happy to see some marketing muscle behind the game, but we wonder what all the people just looking for funny cat videos will think when they go to YouTube on the 31st.
