UPDATE: Sony's "Mystery Game" Is Just LittleBigPlanet 2

by Joe Juba on Aug 29, 2010 at 06:20 AM

UPDATE: After scrutinizing every detail of the flash file for Sony's countdown site, users have unearthed an image that reveals the mystery game's identity. The only problem is that it isn't a mystery at all: It's LittleBigPlanet 2. Hidden within the file are images of Sackboy and the LittleBigPlanet logo, presumably ready to display when the timer expires.

Also, as many folks in the comments have pointed out, the man appears to be knitting a Sackboy. So, I guess it all makes sense. Oh, well. The mystery was fun while it lasted.

ORIGINAL STORY:
The Tokyo Game Show is coming up in September, and it looks like Sony is trying to build up excitement for a title that may be making an appearance. All we have right now is a mysterious countdown site, which will hit zero this coming Wednesday.

You can check out the site for yourself right here. At the moment, all you'll see is a well-dressed man knitting in the smoke and dark, surrounded by a couple other guys in suits. The countdown is on Sony Japan's site, so it's possible that whatever the game is, it may not even be bound for a North American release.

We'll know more at around on Wednesday evening (7:00 PM Pacific time). And, presumably, even more after TGS next month.
