The lights are on
Gran Turismo guru Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed via Twitter that the highly anticipated (and long-in-production) racing sim needs 10 GB of hard drive space for the smoothest play experience. If you don't have that much room on your hard drive (for those of use with launch PS3s, space is at a premium), you can still play the game. But even without installing anything, you'll need 256 MB of free space just to run the game off the disc. If you don't have that much, you seriously need to go through and delete some junk. Yamauchi didn't clarify what exactly those 10 GB will be used for when the game is installed. I'd assume it will mitigate loading between races and such; fans would revolt if the game needs that much space just to get your car around the track without stuttering. If nothing else, we'll know for sure when GT 5 releases on November 2.(Source: andriasang and tipster Bryan Miller)

I heard about this yesterday, and it's still utterly ridiculous. The most I've had to install was FarCry 2 with 8GB.
It's a good thing the 10GB is just optional.
With those graphics, I can understand why it needs 10GB!
I dont care if is 20GB, this game has to be in my PS3.
good thing you can upgrade a PS3 HDD pretty cheap and easily
Holy crap that's a lot of memory.
I'd hate to see how long that install would take...
Also, GI, can you put something about how it runs if you don't install in the game's review?
What the FLUFF! It better be friggin' worth it! Unfortunatly, I'm one of those people with a launch PS3, and have yet to upgrade. Still, I'm pretty excited for GT5, and that's from someone who never really cared about the first 4 games [unless you count that demo thingy that came out for GT5, in which case there's 5].
i upgraded my ps3 i got 320 gigs, bring it on gt5 im so rdy
hey guess what i did..... i replaced my 60 gb hdd for a 320 a couple of years ago and have not looked back. bring it on.
Took too long to come out, so I'm really not excited at all.
Very good. I'd rather have a simple install than have to wait ridiculous load times like Modnation Racers did.
i dont kare the prise i have to pay but gt is goin to be in my ps3
thats fine with me, although thats gunna take a while to install. but he could just be talking about like you have the option to either buy the disk or install it off of psn. thats what it seemed to me. plus he might think that if you download it then it runs smoother than on a disk. i dunno, but either way i dont mind putting 10 gigs on my slim.
I'll make sure to start my install before heading off to work then. :P
10 GB?! holy crap. That's too much for one game. If every game took that much, I'd only be able to have 8 games. No way
Wow, that is a lot of memory but hey, I will waste any amount to get this game to run as smooth as possible so every gigabyte is worth it.
