DLC Confirmed For Fallout: New Vegas

After the release of Fallout 3, Bethesda continued to support the game for months with a variety of high-quality DLC. Though Obsidian has taken over the development duties on Fallout: New Vegas, the game will still follow in the footsteps of its predecessor in terms of post-release support.

On a podcast over at the BethBlog, Fallout: New Vegas senior producer Jason Bergman reveals that the gears are already turning on the DLC front. "We confirmed that we will be doing DLC, and we'll be announcing that fairly soon," says Bergman. "We haven't really said any details of any kind other than 'Yes, we will be doing DLC.'" The short exchange begins around the 2:31 mark, so you can head over to Bethesda's site and listen for yourself.

We'll apparently have to wait a bit longer to hear more, but it's nice to know that the team is already thinking about ways to keep me wandering around New Vegas. I just hope we don't have to deal with console-exclusive DLC this time around; I originally played Fallout 3 on PS3, and felt totally left out when everyone else in the office was playing the additional content.

  • Hope its as awesome as Fallout 3's

  • why do we have to wait untill october 19th

  • why do we have to wait untill october 19th

  • I'm very excited for this game and to hear that it will have DLC support after is awesome. Hopefully it will be the same quality, if not exceeding, the DLC from Fallout 3

  • <3

I knew it would, but the confirmation is awesome all the same. ^_^

... And speaking of platform-exclusive DLC, I've been saying for awhile now that Sony isn't going to keep getting pushed around. One of these days they're going to start pushing back. I'd hate for them to take revenge on Microsoft with Fallout: New Vegas. =X

  • If New Vegas ends like Fallout 3 did, I hope that a DLC like Broken Steel will release first instead of 3rd.

  • Wow! who wouldve guessed that they would make a DLC after all five DLCs made in the previous game which they made so much off of? you would think they would say "we've got enough money. lets dissapoint the fans and not make any downloads". Btw, this is all sarcasm.

  • umm how about instead of already making dlc they just add that stuff into the game

  • Just don't make it console exclusive. I'd rather have that than have it appear only on the PS3 or 360.

  • That's good to know that they'll keep it updated.

  • I hope the dlc in New Vegas is like fallout 3 in that you get to go to different places near New Vegas. It would rock if they had dlc that took us to places like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, San Fransico in Cali, and Yellow Stone park in Colorado. Oh man, I'm geekin' out just thinkin' about!

  • Then I'm confirming that I'll download it.

  • That's great news, but I'm doubtful that the DLC will be as fulfilling as Point Lookout, Broken Steel, The Pitt, Mothership Zeta, or Operation Anchorage.  They were all awesome,  Broken Steel and Point Lookout being the most prominent.

  • WTF JUST PUT IT IN THE GAME!!

  • Hmm fallout 3s dlc was awesome and fun. I wonder what adventures new vegas' dlc will take us on?

I suspect another alien one... you're so close to area 51!

  • Thats what I like most about the Fall Out franchise they know how to take good care of their players..

  • Not surprising.

  • I hope it's set in Chicago or the Mid-west, although that's a bit far away from Nevada, but still, that'd be cool. Either that, or Hawaii. It'd be cool to see what happened to it after the apocalypse.

  • I don't think i'll be getting this. With so many awesome games coming out there is no way i could get this and the DLC for it.

  • Lame to announce DLC before the game has even released.  Makes it appear as though the developer/publisher are withholding content from paying customers in order to milk the cash cow.
