Weekend Warrior 08/27/10

by Annette Gonzalez on Aug 27, 2010 at 02:00 PM

The Minnesota State Fair kicks off this weekend, but that won't keep us from our gaming (unless we fall into a food coma). Find out what we're up to this weekend then share your plans in the comments section.

Andy: Don't ask me why, but I never got a chance to play Darksiders, so I plan on switching back and forth between that and Civilization V whenever I can find free time. The State Fair is a sea of bad eats and I'm afraid I may find my way to its greasy gates at some point this weekend, which will surely slow down my gaming goals.

Reiner: Through a strange twist of events, I'm going to be traveling to three of the United States' largest water parks (all located in Wisconsin). Since I'll be mobile, I'm going to bring my PSP and the new Valkyria Chronicles game.

Jeff C: All right. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I need to finish Alan Wake. I've been picking it up here and there between other games, and I need to make it an actual priority. Then again, I have a bunch of cleanup work in Lego Harry Potter and Scott Pilgrim, so it's probably not going to happen anytime soon. Oh well. Who am I fooling? The Minnesota State Fair is open for business, so I'll probably just spend the weekend gorging on fried food. Sorry, Alan.

Joe: I'm having a big co-op Scott Pilgrim party at my place, so hopefully my friends and I will be able to blow through the entire game on 360. I already beat it once on PS3, but I can't wait to play it again. Most of my other gaming this weekend will involve Valkyria Chronicles II, my PSP, and a comfortable chair.

Sean: I have Mafia II and StarCraft II multiplayer on tap to make this a fun sequel weekend, plus the weather is nice and the State Fair is on, so there might be that. I've been in the habit of playing the "hardcore" games until late at night (lately Red Dead and Mafia II), and then using Peggle as a nightcap (stupid challenges). Don't know how that habit started, but it will likely continue until Monday. If he's not in time out, I'll also try to beat Scott Pilgrim with my son.

Annette: Playing some Scott Pilgrim this weekend while continuing my crawl through Red Dead. I'm making my favorite Western priority this weekend so we'll see if I get anywhere near the finish line (finally).

Jeff M: This week I’ll be continuing my goal to finish up BioShock. Right now I have to build a bomb out of Big Daddy parts to blow up an engine or something. I don’t know exactly what’s happening but it’s been a hell of a lot of fun. If I finish BioShock, I might try out another FPS in my back catalogue – Resistance.

Phil: While I spend the weekend hiding from Metroid fans, I think I'm actually going to spend some time with my Wii. I've still got to finish up the green stars on Super Mario Galaxy 2, and I just remembered that I've barely touched Cave Story. I'll also be working through Mafia II and continuing my slow but steady progress in Dragon Age: Origins.

That's it for us. What are you up to this weekend?
