The lights are on
Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption was a smashing success, and we all know what success means for a video game: movie tie-ins! If the latest Hollywood rumor is to be believed, studios are scrambling to put together a big screen version of Red Dead starring none other than Brad Pitt (pictured above in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford).
Showbiz Spy brings us this rumor from an unnamed Hollywood insider. Apparently the idea for the film adaptation is "to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches." Pitt is being targeted for the lead role and is "being given first refusal" -- i.e. no other actors will be considered unless he turns it down.
It seems like making a Red Dead Redemption movie could be a little strange, seeing as the game itself is already extremely cinematic and borrows heavily from scenes, characters, and plot threads from older Western films. Does anyone else feel like we're getting trapped in some horrifying time loop where games recycle ideas from movies that then recycle ideas from games?
That could actually be good. Especially if Brad Pitt is involved.
Why must everything be turned into a movie?
actually I think pitt would do good he could very well look the part but Im not sure they need to make this movie as good as the game was or I will kill I swear. if its even more then a rumor
I think Brad Pitt could work as John Marston.
Rarely anything is original nowadays. There are a great amount of movies that were based off of books. Does it really matter where a movie idea comes from as long as its good? Don't care about originality as long as it is done right.
Josh Brolin from No Country For Old Men should be Marston, he looks just like him.
Or maybe, Brad Pitt could be playing Jack Marston... hmm...
It could be good, but I really like the voice of john marston now...
brad pitt can play a convincing cowbow. But can he play a convincing John Marston?
I'd watch Pitt in a Fistful of Dollars reboo, er Red Dead Redemption movie.
Won't this be like watching a game you played all over again in two hours without all the fun stuff you did. Just watching it, like watching it...
Karl Urban should def play Marston. I think it would be a perfect fit. Brad Pitt would be decent, or even Josh Brolin, but my vote is for Karl Urban.
I don't think it would work. It will probably be made, but it probably won't work.
I'd like to see it, but this is coming from someone who hasn't seen many westerns. I've never seen any of Clint Eastwood's Spaghetti Westerns. :O
They should cast Bill Paxton as John Marston -- he sounds so much like him already! And with the makeup I think he would look a lot like him too. That would be too faithful to the game though. Hollyweird is never faithful when it comes to game adaptations, so I guess that won't happen...
Sounds like a good idea
