The lights are on
We would never condone this sort of defacing of public property. We're just saying it's kind of awesome. A post on BikePortland.org is revealing some mischief at work from a fan of Mario's adventures on the race courses of Mario Kart. Apparently, one of the bike paths in town has been getting some inexplicable power-ups. Bananas, mushrooms, and stars are no doubt put in place to let bikers beat their opponents in the race. We at Game Informer are still waiting for word on whether the special pick-ups are providing any significant bonuses. If you live in Portland, and can confirm the ability of these drawings to transform your bike into a zooming Kart driven by Donkey Kong or Yoshi, please contact us immediately, so we can update the story. Given the illegal nature of these activities, we'd hate to see this start happening in other cities around the country. Unless, you know, it was pretty funny.

What... NO! Watch out for that Banan- *CRASH!*
He never stood a chance...
This is lame. No Chain-chomp power-up? Those were the best to abuse.
*** those bananas, they always made me lose...
That banana's gonna cause a lot of wrecks.
I don't bike Portland enough to have noticed these.. will have to try to track some down, hehe.
It's gonna be funny when the guy who bikes over the banana gets distracted by it and ends up crashing.
NICE! GO MY HOMETOWN!
Wow just awesome.
doesn't surprise me, this kind of thing only happens in Portland. i love that place, it's easily my favorite city on the west coast, for reasons such as this. takes me back to my adventures there. . .
Everyone knows 3 red shells was the most useful bonus.
Any portlander mariokart fan who runs over the bannana is hereby honor bound to wipe out while someone films it! Also, this makes me kinda want to do some game inspired vandalism of my own, anyone else feel that?
Nice, I'm moving up there next spring. I'll have to start biking.
Wait, so it's illegal to make a small chalk drawing on the pavement?
Feels good to be a Portland Biker
Haha!
As long as blue shells dont appear the bikers should be safe
If somebody did that in Seattle it would be gone in a matter of hours because this city HATES fun. It may not seem that way but Seattle is trying so hard to be the most PC city in the country its sickening. It may not hurt anyone and be really fun but if there is no permit for it, you ain't doing anything
Oh man, I'm totally trying that next time I see chalk.
Mario Kart is responsible for some of my best memories on the N64. I don't see it as graffiti, but tasteful art spicing up the scenery.
The biker keeps missing them. He'll never win that way.
I hate those stupid bananas. I would get them and drop them and the AI never hit them! Then I would zoom around the track the next time and hit my own banana.
